University where the free-range chicken project is held.
There are 187 million chickens and the population of native chickens are 80 million+.
The needs of chickens are: Chicken food, water, lighting, correct vaccine, and a chicken house.
Free-ranged chicken eggs give less cholesterol and less saturated fat and has amino acid.
The kinds of free-range chickens are: Domenanting itim, Dominanting puti, Domenanting pula,
Domenanting brown, Domenanting barred, at Domenanting blue.
Free-range chicken can produce 240-310 eggs per chicken per year.
When chickens have fertilized eggs, brooding starts. Brooding is adding light to chickens. The
temperature needed is 39 degrees Celsius.
When the temperature is cold, lighting is needed for 2 weeks. When temperature is hot, lighting is
needed for 1 week.
Lighting is removed when chicks have feathers on their wings. Chickens can go out when they are 60
days old.
Estanle D. Fiesta is a free-range chicken breeder. Dr. Erwin S. Cruz is a free-range poultry and duck
specialist. The heritage breeds/classic lines are Rhode Island red, Barred Plymouth rock, and Sussex.
They can produce up to 280 eggs per year. Their meat can weigh up to 1.4-1.5 kilos of chicken meat
every 70 days. The kinds of good combination of chicken breeds are Dominant 109 or Rhode Island red
and Barred Plymouth rock, Dominant 149 or Sussex and Barred Plymouth rock, Dominant 107 or
Dominant Blue and Barred Plymouth rock, and Dominant 843 or both Rhode island red.
