Course Description

The purpose of this course is to familiarize students to specification writing for


building projects as well as quantity surveying. They will learn how to handle
and manage contracts. The course will equip the students with the skills to
make calculations to estimate construction costs.

Course purpose

The purpose of this course is to familiarize students to specification writing for


building projects as well as quantity surveying. They will learn how to handle
and manage contracts. The course will equip the students with the skills to
make calculations to estimate construction costs.
Course Objectives
● Understand Contract Documents and recruitment methods for
Funding of construction projects.
● Develop skill in estimating project cost and property valuation.

● Understand the theory and practice of specification writing and


quantity surveying
● Gain experience and exercise in specification writing and quantity
surveying.

Be sure to pay close attention to deadlines—there will be no make-up
assignments or quizzes, or late work accepted without a serious and
compelling reason and instructor and department approval.

Part 5: Course Policies

Attend Class
Students are expected to attend all class sessions as listed on the course
calendar.
● Incase if you miss a class make sure that you’ll report to the teacher
prior to missing the class and make sure you’ll bring your written
evidences.

Participate
Class participation is mandatory and will be part of the evaluation.

Complete Assignments
All assignments for this course will be submitted personally to the
teacher in person or the online platform communicated accordingly.
Assignments must be submitted by the given deadline. Extensions will
not be given beyond the next assignment. All discussion assignments
must be completed by the assignment due date and time. Late or
missing discussion assignments will not be considered.
