1 General
These instructions concern the installation of power supply system BZA 130 02/2, which
is a -48 V DC system earthed to positive, for telecommunication equipment. The screws
and nuts used in the system follow the ISO-METRIC standard.
We recommend safety rules RULES 1550-1004 Uen to be followed during the installa
tion.
The cabinet must normally be locked. The key shall be kept by the person
who is responsible for the system.
All work to be carried out inside the cabinet shall be entrusted only to
personnel adequately trained on this equipment.
The distribution cables shall be located and protected so that unintentional
contact with them is unlikely to occur during operations involving live parts of
the equipment.
The system shall be provided with a disconnector so that the system might be dead
during service. Approved disconnectors of this system are the ACdistribution and
battery circuitbreakers, if the system comprises batteries.
If more than one ACsupply is connected to the system, the disconnectors must be
placed next to each other.
If the unit/s must be dead for extensive work in the system for instance, both the sup
plying mains fuses and the circuitbreakers of possible batteries must be switched off.
Please notice that there may be more than one mains supply to the cabinet.
The feeding mains fuses and battery circuitbreakers shall be placed adjacent to
and within sight of the power cabinets.
The mains fuses for rectifiers BMJ 403 011/3, /6 shall be at least antisurge 20 A
and antisurge 30-35 A for rectifiers BMJ 403 011/4, /5, and be designed so that
all phases can be disconnected in a single manipulation.
Feeding fuses shall have indications so that it is clear what load they are connected to, for
example PSU 1, PSU 2 and PSU 3 for the rectifiers.

Introduce the cables into the cabinet through the appropriate holes. Refer
to figure 25.
To the batteries
The current value of the battery circuitbreaker determines the minimum permissible
cable area. When dimensioning the battery cables the lengths of the cables and the
number of batteries must also be taken into consideration.
Table 1 indicates the recommended values of the minimum cable area and the
maximum length in relation to the current value of the battery circuitbreaker and
the number of batteries. The table is based on the assumption that the battery
cables are laid in one layer on a shelf or a ladder, and that the ambient tempera
ture is 25 °C.
If the current values of the plant are known, a new calculation of dimensions may
show that a smaller cable area can be used.
