DAT (Digital Audio Tape) is a new recording system
Which digitaizes the audio signal and records it on a DAT
cassette tape.
DAT records the audio signal by converting the analog
‘sound into a digital signal. This converting system is
called the PCM (Pulse Code Modulation), and its
accurate processing of the audio signal allows recording/
playback with lower wow and flutter, wider dynamic
range, lower distortion rate, and superb signal-to-noise
ratio.
In addition, various control codes calls sub codes can be
\written on the DAT cassette separately from the audio
signal. They are witten for a variety of convenient
playbackitape editing operations, and except for the
absolute time, can be rewritten after audio signal
recording has been completed,ge)

Serial copy management system (SCMS)
This unit ulizes the serial copy management system that
permits digita-to-digital recording for one generation. You
an record CD sound or other digital formats through a
fa-to-digital connection, (See page 50.)
Three sampling frequencies
Recordingiplayback can be done with three sampling
frequencies (48 kHz, 44.1 kHz and 32 kHz},
48 kHz. For analog and digital input signals in standarc
kHz: For compact disc and pre-recorded DAT tape.
32 kHz: For analog inpul signals in long-play mo:
hen recording analog signals in standard mode, you can
solect the sampling frequency among 48 kHz, 44.1 KHz and
82 kee,
Long play mode
This unt can operate ina long-play mode. Analog input
signals can be recorded or playback for up to four
ngecutive hours when the DT-120 DAT cassette tape is
used. The sampling frequency will be 32 kHz in the long:
play mode.
Visible cassette loading
‘You can view the tape operation through the lid of the
sselte compartment. Due to a revolutionary new transport
mechanism, cassette loading time has been signiticantly
reduced,
Excellent sound quality
{bit AD converter
For the VD converter section which converts anatog input
signals to digital signais, the unit employs a t-bit AID
Converter which theoretically generates no zero-cross
distortion for a clear. elegant sound quality
Pulse D/A converter
Superior playback performance is achieved with a pulse D/
A converter,
Rich variety of subcode information
This unit can record subcode information such as Start IDs,
program numbers, Skip IOs, and absolute time data,
enabling you to quickly locate selections and display the
playback time in the same manner as when playing
compact discs.
Post edit recording of sub codes
You can record or rewrite the following sub codes after the
audio signal recording has been completed
Start ID: Signiies the beginning of a selection
Program number: Gives a number to the selection
Skio ID: Signifies the beginning of a portion to be skipped
nd ID: Signifies the end position of recoraingiplayback
Since sub codes are written on the tape separately from
audio signals, the audia signals are not affected
