1. Look for a piece of picture under your chair then put together the pieces of picture to reveal it.
2. Based on the picture, answer the questions that the teacher asks.
1. Listen to the story about “The man with the coconuts” through video presentation.
2. Listen for the answer to the question. Did the man go too fast or too slow?
3. Answer the questions of the teacher.
1. The learners will be group into 2 then they will have a representative as their leader.

3. Survey question is, “Based on the story, give 6 difficult words.

2. In your group, arrange the pictures to retell the story.
3. In a circle, talk a about a time when you were hurrying too much so something bad happened
that made you late.
1. Work in a group to answer this question: What should they do to remove the coconuts off the
road?
1. Teacher and students review the previous lesson about the man and the coconuts by briefly
recounting the story using pictures.
1. Using the “WORD REVEAL CARD”, learners will read the word then act it to give clue on the
meaning of the word.
2. Read the focus word then. Which words do you know? Which words you don’t?
3. If you don’t know the word, look for the word meaning in the resource workbook.
1. From the word focus, choose some words that tell action.
2. Introduce the past tense suffix -ed.
3. Using the story text, circle the regular verbs with simple past suffix -ed.
Component 4: Flash Cards
2. Work with a partner or in a group to read the flash cards and keep your score.
3. How many flash cards can you read in one minute? Is that more than yesterday?
Reading
Fluency practice
1. Repeated reading – Teacher reads the first sentence, then moves around the class with each
student reading one sentence up to the end of the story. If there are more students than
sentences, start from the beginning again. Teacher provides feedback on student fluency and
accuracy.
2. Students practice reading the whole text in groups; Teacher circulates.
1. Students turn to ‘The man with the coconuts’ comprehension exercise in their workbooks.
2. Teacher and Students review strategies for reading questions and finding answers in the text.
3. Students work with a partner to identify question words and underline important information.
4. Students locate/underline answers in the text.
5. Students write answers individually in their workbooks.
6. Teacher and students check answers together. Students record in their workbook whether
correct, maybe, or incorrect.

1. Using the Venn Diagram, compare and contrast the two pictures of the lesson in day 1 and the
story that they read.
