VOLLEYBALL Guidelines and Rule Book
PRTICIPANTS:
Expectations of Behavior:
All participants and spectators are responsible for their conduct. Good sportsmanship like
conduct is required.

Ejection:
In the event a participant/spectator acts unsportsmanlike, a judgement call will be made by
an official depending on the severity of the offense. If the offense is minor, a warning will be given.
A second warning will result in an ejection. An ejected participant/spectator must vacate the playing
area immediately. Failure to do so will result in further disciplinary action from the Intramural
Coordinator.
The following will result in an immediate ejection, referral to the Intramural Coordinator, and
possible referral to the Vice President for Student Development.
• Profanity
• Language meant to harm an individual or group.
• Disrespect to an official
• Threatening
• Unnecessary roughness
• Damage to Intramural equipment

Physical Violence:
Due to the severity of physical violence, local law enforcement will be called out in the event
of physical altercation. All matters following the incident will be handled by the Office of Student
Development.
Waiver of Injury Liability:
1. Liberty Integrated School and the Intramural program are not responsible for any injury that
occurs during practice for or during actual game playing time. All intramural participants are
wholly liable for the payment of their medical care that is a result of any injury incurred.
Participants are encouraged to have private-personal medical insurance.
2. Participation in intramural activities is voluntary and all medical expenses incurred through
participation are the sole responsibility of the participant.
3. Participants indicated their understanding of the Liberty Integrated School ‘Expectations of
Behavior’ and the ‘Waiver of Liability’ when they initialed their Intramural Draft Application.

Sports Volleyball Rules


Playing Court:
1. Volleyball is played in the Brgy. Liberty Gymnasium court. But subject to change depends on
the availability of the venue.

o All participants (players and fans) will take the time needed to place all trash into the
appropriate trash containers. Leave the area cleaner than it was when the
Intramurals events started.
o The Intramurals Leadership Team will assure that the court is properly cleaned to
enhance the safety of participants.
Player Requirements:

1. All players must be bona fide students (women) of Liberty Integrated School
2. Players are not allowed to join more than 1 team.
3. Players must be available for all tournament dates.
4. The act of registering for this tournament implies full acceptance of all terms,
conditions, rules and regulations stated, in its entirety.
5. List of athletes together with jersey number must be submitted to the tournament
manager on the 1 week before the event. The faction will be disqualified if it uses an
ineligible player that is not on the roster.
6. The school’s student athletes are/will be allowed to play in their respective event.
7. The competition will be a Single Elimination type of tournament
8. Each player must wear their respective Faction shirt/color.
9. Each player must wear an appropriate attire for the sport.
10. All players must remove ALL jewelry prior to participating.
11. Players can play with or without uniform as long as the jersey has number.
12. No jersey number, No play.
13. Teams must consist of maximum 12 players.
14. Players may wear soft (padded) knee, elbow, or other body braces.
15. All players must sign the waiver form before stepping on the court. Failure to do so
will result in an automatic forfeit for any team not abiding by this rule.
Captains / Co-Captains
1. Captains (Co-Captains) are the only team members who may address game officials.
2. Captains (Co-Captains) are responsible for the enforcement of all playing rules at the team
level.
3. Captains (Co-Captains) are responsible for supervising the behavior of their team roster
members.
4. Captains (Co-Captains) are responsible for making sure that each team member is dressed
appropriately including team shirts/primary color.
5. Captains (Co-Captains) are responsible for annotating the game rosters provided by the
score keeper.

Game time / Time-outs


O The Time Keeper will start the game clock at the end-bounds contact of the
ball.
O An Official Time Out may be called if a player appears to be injured.

TOURNAMENT
1. Each team must have a coach or the Adviser may act as one.
2. The tournament will be a single elimination type of tournament
3. The tournament is also a passerelle type of tournament where each team must play
different lineup each quarter excluding the 4 th quarter wherein the coach can choose
which players, he desires play.

HOW TO WIN A SET/MATCH


1. All games for the elementary boys and girls shall be played on a 2-out of-3 sets
following the Rally Point System. A team which scores 25 points with a minimum lead of
two (2) points wins a set. In case of a 24-24 tie, play is continued until a two-point lead is
achieved i.e., 26-24; 27-25; etc. should there be 3rd or deciding set, the change sides of court
shall be at score 13 and the team which scores 25 points or with a minimum lead of
two (2) points, wins a set.

2. All games for the Secondary boys and girls during the preliminary rounds shall be
played on a 2-out-of-3 sets following the Rally Point System. A team which scores 25
points with a minimum lead of two (2) points, wins a set. In case of a 24-24 tie, play is
continued until a two-point lead is achieved i.e., 26-24; 27-25; etc. Should there be 3rd or
deciding set, the change sides of court shall be at score 13 and the team which scores 25
points or with a minimum lead of two (2) points, wins a set. In the Championship Match,
games will be played on a 3-out-of-5 sets. Should there be fifth (5th) or deciding set,
teams change sides of the court at score 8 and a team which scores 15 points or with a
minimum lead of two (2) points, wins the set.

Bleeding
1. Any participant that is noted to be bleeding during competition will be removed from the game
until bleeding stops. The team captain and game officials will determine when the player
may return. In the event that a team has no substitutes, the game will be stopped for no
more than 5 minutes. If the bleeding has not stopped after the 5-minute pause, the team will
forfeit.

Number of players / Forfeits


1. A minimum of 6 players is required to start a game. Teams are allowed to have up to 6
players on the court. In case of a double-forfeit, neither team will garner win points.
2. Game time is player roster time. If a team cannot field at least 4 players within ten minutes of
game time; a forfeit is in effect. In order to claim forfeit, a team must have the correct
number of players present and ready to play.
3. In case of injury or player ejection, a team captain may opt to play with 4 players only if the
team does not have an eligible player immediately available on the bench. If this option is
chosen, the game results will not be challengeable.

Substitution
1. Player substitutes may be made only during dead-ball times.
• Substitutes must report to the time keeper BEFORE entering the game.

Ejections
1. An ejected player must be replaced within 60 seconds (game clock paused) if the team has
an eligible player available on the bench. Again, if an eligible player is not immediately
available on the bench the team captain may opt to play with 4 players.

CONDUCT OF COMPETITION
1. The First Referee shall not permit any discussion about his/her decisions. Rule
23.2.4.
2. The Rule of Succession in scheduling games in all levels shall apply. Hence, teams
shall be within the vicinity of the court forty-five (45 min) to one hour ahead of their
scheduled time of play. Fifteen minutes prior to the start of the match, the 1st and the
2nd referees will conduct the toss coin and game proceedings. Games shall start as s
scheduled.
3. Players, coaches, including identified team supporter, pointing dirty fingers, use of
profane language or any derogatory remarks addressed to the officiating officials, shall be
warned and repetition of the same offense warrants sanction. The team shall be sanctioned by
loss of service or point against it if the spectator is identified to be the team supporter.
4. At the end of the match, team captains shall congratulate and shake hands with the
Referees (a gesture of sportsmanship), sign the score sheet to ratify the result of the
match. (Rules 5.1.3.1)
5. There shall be regular inspection of/checking of player’s ID before the start of the
game.

UNFORSEEN ITEMS

As regards the specific items not expressly foreseen in this regulation, the Chairman or
Tournament Manager will decide in consultation with the General Rules and Guidelines
contained in the FIVB.
