GROUP ACTIVITY: Pick a Side
Each group will be asked to pick a side in a given issue. Three
minutes will be given to each group to brainstorm and come up
with evidences/ reasons to support their side. Finally, one minute
will be given to every group leader to tell the class of the group’s
output.

Issue # 2: Is it appropriate for students and teachers to be

Once you are done with your output, you are task to present the
output in the following:

Each group leader will also discuss the output.

F. Abstraction The teacher will give the meaning /concept of position paper.
Further, the format of writing the paper will also be given.

Position paper is an essay that describes someone’s detailed


position or opinion on a topic or issue. The purpose of a position
paper is to generate support on an issue.
To write a position paper, like all other essays that we do, it
has three parts-introduction, body and conclusion.
The introduction clearly identifies the issue and states the
author’s position.
The body may contain several paragraphs. Each paragraph
should present an idea or main concept that clarifies your
position and is supported by evidence or facts. It should
incorporate both sides of the issue.
The conclusion should summarize the main concepts and
ideas. It could include suggested courses of action and possible
solutions.

IV. APPLICATION WRITING ACTIVITY!


By group, the students are going to write an introduction about
this issue.
Should students’ textbooks be replaced by notebook computers
and other gadgets of similar kind?
The teacher together with her students use the teacher-student
made rubric.
(By group students will be given 2 minutes to present their
introduction.
