Medium

refers to the material in which the artist chose to objectify or


express his feeling and/or emotion

When the artist chooses their medium they try to choose


the medium bet suitable to express the feeling they want to
convey

There are no fixed rules in the choice of medium and


material used in making the art. Sometimes, however the
patrons can leave the artist with no choice.

The artist's practical choices will be considered and


influenced by when choosing materials can be restricted
due to availability, the use of the art, the idea of the artist
and nature & special characteristics of the medium.

The medium's nature allows it to be worked into a work of


art. It also determines what subjects can be expressed
through it, i.e. subjects that are frozen in time, not involving
actual movements in the medium of space art.

A wise artist accepts and exploits the shortcoming of


mediums.

The techniques of an artist does not matter much in art


however the way an artist uses it is what is important.

The method of presentation of the art is assessed to by the


skill of the artist.

The elements of art is akin to atoms which are the building

Line

Organic - shapes that are irregular and occurring in


nature i.e. the shape of leaves and/or clouds.

Abstract shapes are formed after the artist has drawn
out the essence of the original object and made it the
subject of their work.

Abstract shape can be considered as organic shapes


due to the fact of their irregular shape/s.

Form

shows the object in 3D space. There is a mass and it


occupies space. It is an enclosed volume.

For some painter, it renders 3D art in 2D space. It is


usually used to form an illusion of a 3D space in a
painting.

Space

It is an element of art wherein it has a + and - areas. It


has a sense of depth. It is the area an object occupies
or the are between objects.

The negative (-) space is the distance between two


objects. It is the empty space in between, can dark or
black.

The positive (+) space is the , can be white or light.

An illusion of space can be done with the use of


shading

Shading allows you to create a 3D illusion in 2D space.

Color

It is derived from light, it is a reflected light.

allows us to see different objects' color. It enables it to
absorb different colors and reflect the color that we see.

Black, white and gray are not on the color spectrum


instead they differ in the amount of light they reflect.

Hue - the color itself

Value - it is the lightness or darkness of the color. It


changes when white or black is added to the color.
Amount of light, tint. Amount of darkness, shade.

Intensity - the aspect of brightness and purity of the


color. High-intensity means the color is bolder and

effect when painters use different colors to give a certain
effect.

Texture

Monophonic Texture - music with only one note without any


accompaniment.
Homophonic Texture - Two or more notes sounding at the
same time, with a prominent melody and a harmonic
accompaniment underneath.

Balance
It is the sense of stability and equilibrium in art. Spreading
things out evenly.
Symmetrical, formal balance. Asymmetrical, informal
balance. Radial, from the center.
This is to ensure an aspect of the art does not overshadow
the rest of the aspects.
