Executive Summery
Internship program is the best thing for students to change their theoretical knowledge that
get from class by different course into practical knowledge and to faces the real world
situation before taking a serious commitment. This internship used to minimize company’s
cost used to train workers after they graduated and employed. It also helps students to
develop different skill like practical, interpersonal communication, entrepreneur, and
leadership skills. This report is divided in to four sections. In chapter one will discuss about
the overall company background. Chapter two the overall benefits I gained from the
internship program, Chapter Three explains SWOT of analysis. And chapter four explains
about conclusion and recommendation.

CHAPTER 1:Introduction
During my internship period in Dilla University at ICT directorate, I have understand
different parts of the system unit and their purpose .I also understand that how to control the
day to day activities of the society in the university. Practical attachment is necessary to
visualize the theory we learnt in to real practical work, and also it is a better option to
increase the knowledge of class lesson by analysis with the realities of the work.
1.1 Profile of the organization
1.1.1 Background
DU is known by university of the green land. It is found in South Nations Nationalities and
Peoples Region. The name of the university has been picked from the name of the
administrative town.
The history of Dilla University is traced back to the year 1996 with its name, Dilla College of
Teachers’ Education and Health Sciences. The then Dilla College constituted two faculties
Faculty of Teachers’ Education and Faculty of Health Sciences.
However, in 2001, the College was included in the then newly emerging University –
DebubUniversity. When Dilla College began its function as a college, it had 12
departmentswith total student population of less than 400 in a campus that was originally
constructed for another purpose.
In 2006 Dilla College once again went through another phase and sprung into a full-fl edged
University by the Council of Ministers Regulation No. 129/06.
Now the university is operating in three campuses; the fourth is underway, with 6 colleges, 2
institutes and 3 schools which offer more than 47 undergraduate and 24 post-graduate
/masters/ programs and 1 PhD program with student population of more than 31,000 in
regular and continuing education programs.

my Company .because it is already known.
2.2 Teams and Work Relation among Team Members/Other Staff
2.2.1 Team Relation
During internship period at the first time I feel individuality, but some time later we adapt
group relation or team relation and work together and live as brotherly and sisterly.
4
Group work is more success full than individual work , because if somebody works in group
sharing idea and solve big problem and create new thing than individual work.
2.2.2 Work Relation
During internship program perform theoretical idea or concepts by practically concept. i.e.
Internship program had been more focused on practical works rather than theoretical works.
their for theoretical and practical or lecture method and internship program have their own
relation . Internship program is the result of theoretical program. Because if somebody try to
perform practical works theoretical must be known at the first time.
2.2.3 The work task we have been executing
File Sharing by using Network
View Data center
Identify their problems
Identifying and analyzing the problems of existing system
Suggesting solution for the identified problems
Downloading different software
Giving awareness about computer science and information technology
Prepare UTP Cable
2.2.3.1 Prepare UTP Cable
First I learned types of networking cable
Networking cable is used to connect two or more computers or networking device in a
network. there are different types of networking cable ,but I Focused on twisted cable
spatially I Saw UTP Cable.
UTP Cable

• Problem identification.
• Finding the solution of problem with in practice.
• Recognizing the risk that will be occurred during job processed
2.4.2 Upgrading Theoretical knowledge
Even though, we were learns a lot of things in the class theoretically, we know
many knowledge full activities while we saw things practically. Therefore inter
ship program is not only used to improve our practical skill, but also used to
impose our theoretical knowledge by correlating the practical skill with theoretical
knowledge some of the points that we improved our theoretical knowledge’s are:-
To know in detail about network installation and network cable arrangement. To
inter connect the theoretical knowledge with the real work. Clearly I learned IP
address.
2.4.3 Interpersonal communication
Team working is priceless while performing tasks that society wants from servers.
To gives the services for the customers and talking is not possible together.
Therefore, by good communication among the different sections in the sub city
and woreda I gain wide knowledge.
Good communication has the following advantage:
➢ Analyze and perfect performance of targeted network cabling maintenance
and inspection.
➢ Improving efficiency of the network configuration and cable arrangement due
to inter personal communication.
➢ To persuade peoples the more we communicate the more we know, the better
we persuade the people.

than insult his staff members. Therefore this is a good collaboration between the
leader and his staffs the company or the agency also successful or fruit full.
2.4.7 Understand work ethics and related issue
observe group work was better than individual work.
➢ I learn that no need of playing during work.
➢ Saving money and time was must within the work ethics.
14
➢ observe safety was first for work
➢ How I Am being punctual for a future.
➢ Being responsibility for a future.
2.5 University’s Taught Programs and the Internship Relatedness
Personal I think university taught programs is best to me. Because there is not missing
educational time or there is not overlap between internship program and education’s
program . Because based on university taught program internship program was in free
time or summer.
In case of this University’s Taught Programs and the Internship Relatedness was fantastic
or balanced.
2.6 Techniques used in our internship
➢ Observation

and workflow
o there was instability in the country
o Doesn’t get sufficient chair for setting
2.8 The measures taken to overcome these challenges During the
internship period
we have faced many problems, but we have taken different measures like: -
15
✓ Use internet connection before employees get to the office and after they have gone to
their home
We trained our practice based on the schedule
✓ We use our own computer together
✓ We use different websites
✓ As much as possible we use materials carefully if broken we report at a time and our
trainer replace.
✓ We told the administrator to build enough rooms for office for the future
✓ we had being setting two person by one chair. other wise setting by orderly.
CHAPTER 3 : SWOT ANALYSIS
3.1 Strengths
I had seen Some strength. Such as:-
It has good structural arrangement and leadership qualities.
There is good relationship between mangers and coworkers.
It has very secured data center.
It has an alarm inside the network operational center.
It has power full supervisor with in knowledge or skilled human resource to utilize
technology and cope up with the changing situation.
3.2 Weakness
I had seen this Limitation. Such as:-
Lack of computer network in the office.
Limited number of academic programs.
Failure to apply student-centeredness approach.
Mismanagement of physical facilities and resources.
Weak research culture.
Shortage of skilled human resource to utilize technology and cope up with the
changing situation.
Shortage of Material almost there is not material.
16
3.3 Opportunity
Opportunity is a positive external condition that you do not control but of which you
can plan to take advantage. Thus, some the opportunities of DU ICT are:-
There is good flow of information.
Unable to expand by identifying a good experience for others
Have skill full power to know networking system.
To be More focused at the future.
To be save time at the future.
3.4 Threat(Risk)
Less decision making in all hierarchal level of management.
Department show use operational, manners, daily to improve their service giving
responsibilities.
Shortage of material .
Have not internet access
CHAPTER 4: CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION
4.1. Conclusion
The internship has a great role on students because it provides the way to relate the course
taken in theory with real world experience. It is also useful to enable and develop good work
ethics and understanding. Furthermore, it is useful to identify the strengths and weaknesses of
the intern to work on. Finally, most of the tasks that are performed in the office were related
to field of my study because of this I was so satisfied during my internship.
4.2. Recommendation
This internship is very important for students because it helps them to increase their
experience and skills. In order to produce knowledgeable and skilled students, the following
points need the attention of the concerned bodies.
Hosting organizations should be volunteer to accept and train internship students at first.
17
And should provide good environment for the students. The materials should
have to be sufficient and functioning.
The employees should be punctual and have willingness to teach the interns.
Students should be responsible for the duties they are assigned and pay
attention for the practical work.
Above all the supervisors need to do researches to solve the problems they
face like the problems with the internet connection.
