LESSON PLAN IN BASIC CALCULUS

(REGIONAL DEMO-TEACHING)

June 1, 2016

CONTENT: Integration

CONTENT STANDARD: The learner demonstrates a clear understanding of the basic concepts of
Antiderivatives and Riemann Integral

PERFORMANCE STANDARD: Formulate and solve accurately situational problems involving

population models.

CODE: STEM – BC11I – IVa - 1

I. OBJECTIVES:
After the lesson, the grade eleven senior high school students are expected to do the
following with 85% accuracy:
a. Illustrate an antiderivatives of an function.
b. Work cooperatively and harmoniously with other group members.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

a. Topic: ANTIDERIVATIVE OF A FUNCTION
b. Referrences: Brief Calculus With Application; Pages: 318 – 326
c. Materials: LCD projector, laptop, , Manila papers, Pilot Pen

III. PROCEDURE
A. Preparation

- Greet the students; ask them to stand up , have a prayer, and have a dance and do 7-up
activity.
Good morning, class. (Good morning, Sir.) How are you today? (Fine, Sir.) Before we
begin, may I ask everyone to please stand up? (Pause until all the students are standing
up.) You have been sitting there for two periods now, right? (Yes, Sir) So, let’s dance . To
be led by Mr. Sherwin Uy. (Do the same.) Feel the dance. (Pause for the students.) Do
you feel better now? (Yes, Sir.) Let’s see if you are feel better right now; your mind and
body. Let’s do 7-up. If I say “7” everybody will stand up, then if I say “up”, everybody will
down. So are you ready for our class today? (Yes, Sir) Very good. Let’s start for our class
now. Please sit down.
1. Review
- Review the previous lesson about the derivatives. Ask students.
- Before we proceed to our new lesson. Let’s some have a quick review. What was our
previous lesson? It’s all about Derivative sir. Give an examples of derivattives? Give
me one? Various answer from students. Very Good!

2. Motivation
a. ACTIVITY 1
- Group the students into six, then give instructions for the activity.
Class, I will group you into six groups. (Pause to give students time to group.)
We have six groups, right? (Yes, Sir.) Each group is tasked to discover the secret
message of the king. Now, I will give each group one envelope. Please read and
follow the instructions found inside the envelope carefully. You are given 5 minutes
to perform the activity. After 5 minutes, all group will post there outputs. And whose
group will be post first, will get reward from me. Are there any questions before I
hand out the envelopes? (No, Sir.) So, we are now ready to begin the activity. . Are
you ready now?(Yes, Sir) Give me sign that you are ready. Hephep! Hurry! Let’s begin
now! Here are your envelopes. (Hand-out the envelopes and wait for 5 minutes.)

b. After the activity, ask some various questions?

1. What is your observation on column A? Compare them in column B?
2. Are the two columns related?
3. What is the secret message of the king now?
4. Is it important to know the inverse process of derivative? Why? Why out?
It is important to know the inverse process of derivative. So, class our
lesson for today is all about antiderivative of a function.

B. Presentation
 State lesson Goals
 Formally present the topic.
 Explain the antiderivative.

a.( I do it). The teacher will give an example to illustrate from derivative to
antiderivative. ( I do it)

b.(We do it). EXAMPLE/ACTIVITY 2

Illustrate the following given function from derivative to antiderivative.
a. F ' ( x )=4 x +2
b. F ' ( x )=3 x 2
ANALYSIS
The teacher will ask the following question.
 How did you come up with your answer?
 How do you illustrate an antiderivatives?
 As our activity is useful? How? Why? Why not?
ABSTRACTION
A function F is called antiderivative of a function f on an interval I if F’(x) = f(x)
for every value of x in I.
Theorem
If F is a particular antiderivative of f on an interval I, the every antiderivative
of on I is given by F(x) + C, where C is an arbitrary constant, and all antiderivatives
of f on I can be obtained from “F(x) + C” by assigning particular values to C.
Antidifferentiation is the process of finding the set of all antiderivatives of
given function. The symbol ∫ ❑denotes the operation of antiderivation, and we
write ∫ d (f ( x ))dx = F( x ) + C.

c. (You do it). ACTIVITY 3

The teacher will give an activity.
 Group the class into six.
 Each group is ask to illustrate one antiderivative of a function.
The given function:
i. F ' ( x )=3 x
ii. F ' ( x )=−3 x +2
x +2
iii. F ' ( x )=
x−2
−1
iv. F ' ( x )=¿ x
3
v. F ' ( x )=6 x 3 +5 x
1
vi. F ' ( x )= 2
2x
IV. EVALUATION
Illustrate the antiderivative of a function.
1. F ' ( x )=10 x
2. F ' ( x )=10 x /3
1
3. F ' ( x )= 2
2x+x
4. ∫ ( 3 x 2−8 x +10 ) dx
5. ∫ ( x 4−10 x ) dx
RUBRICS:
5 points – correct answer (No errors)
3 points – attempted to answer (with minor errors)
1 point – attempted to answer (with major errors)
V. ASSIGNMENT
Put into ¼ sheet of paper. Evaluate the following:
1. ∫ ( 6 x2−4 x +5 ) dx
2. ∫ ( 2 x−1 ) ( 3 x+ 4 ) dx
