We shall be using the Appreciative Inquiry Model to assess the company’s performance
and goals.

1) Discover
- Can you provide a brief overview of the company, its history, and its core mission
and values?

We started small. Bacolod Chicken Inasal started with a take-out and delivery
counter in Edsa Central in July of 1993. By providing great food experience with
delicious food, outstanding service, in a relaxed atmosphere, at a reasonable cost
will ensure the happiness of our customers, employees as well as owners of the
business.

- What was your professional background before joining the company, and how
many years have you been part of the organization?

I grew up in a family business environment. My Dad is a businessman, when I was


growing, we have a sugar cane farm, sugar cane trucking business and a prawn
farm. My Dad formed a company that sells all kinds of agricultural Machinery.

So I decided to study Business Management major in Entrepreneurship in DLSU.


Before we I graduated my siblings and I opened BCI to pay for our living expenses
here in Manila. After I graduated, I went home to help with my Dad’s Business.
After 4 years (1998), I went back to Manila to help open our second branch
(Jupiter) and the other branches afterwards. I got my Master in Entrepreneurship
at AIM last 2003-2004.

- What is your current role now?


General Manager particularly the operations and Finance side of the business.

- As a manager within the company, how would you define your role and its
significance in contributing to your overall success and environment?

Managing the operations as well as the finance side of the business. Make sure
that day to day operations is properly done and cash flow are managed well .
- What are things that you enjoy about your job?

Organizing and managing is my forte. My passion on the things that I do,


motivates me. It gives me a sense of fulfillment.

- What are the primary goals and objectives of the company in the next 5 years and
long-term?

We continue to build a dynamic and profitable company that provides great


eating experience with delicious food, outstanding service, in a relaxed
atmosphere, at a reasonable cost to ensure the happiness of its customers as well
as its owners.
- How does the company position itself within the industry, and what are its
competitive advantages/unique qualities from competitors?

As a Filipino restaurant, We continuously strive to develop new products that are


not available in our direct competitors. We give customers a feel of Bacolod every
time they enter our stores. We hire mostly Ilonggo’s and the food we offer are our
favorite Visayan dishes. Our competitive advantage is that we strive to give the
best Quality of food and excellent Delivery of service at an affordable Price.

- Who are the company's target customers or clients, and what market segments
does it serve?

Majority are employees and families (70%) 20 to 39 yrs. old, Businessmen 10%,
students 12%. Our food is acceptable and affordable to the working class &
families
- What is the company's organizational structure, and how are teams or departments
organized?
President / GM (multi-tasking)
VP operations, VP Marketing, VP Production, VP Finance, VP HR

- What are the main products or services offered by the company, and are there any
upcoming offerings in development?

Our Main product is the delicious chicken barbecue called “inasal” as well as other
favorite dishes from Bacolod City.
- Can you share information about the company’s recent financial performance,
such as revenue, profitability, and growth trends?

Sales have somehow recovered coming out from the pandemic. We are averaging
about 5 to 10 percent more compared to the sales in 2019 prior to the pandemic.

2) Dreams

- Reflecting on your current role within the company, are you content with your
current situation and organizational engagement? Is there anything you still wish
to learn or develop while working in the company?

Continues improvement is always the key. Change is always constant and


somehow it is uncomfortable. Your company will always face the never-ending
changes of the market and the world. So you need to keep up with the changes.
- Beyond your current managerial position, do you have aspirations for other roles
or contributions you’d like to make within your organization? Where do you see
yourself in the company in the next few years?

I want to see the company that it will professionally run by itself or run by the
next generation or professional managers so that I will have more time to develop
and try other business concepts as well as more time for myself and family.
- How do your contributions align with and support the company’s broader goals
and mission? Do you believe they are in harmony with your personal career goals
and mission?
- How do you contribute to the achievements of the company’s overall goals and
mission? Can you say they align with your personal goals and mission in your
career?

I love what I do and I enjoy it. I am a perfectionist. I do ordinary things extra


ordinarily well. So I guess, my attitude in work and contributions will benefit the
company whether there will be a constant change.
- What are some specific projects or initiatives you'd like to see our company
undertake in the near future that could positively impact our growth and success?

Expansion and maybe Develop and expand its BCI Junior. A fast-food concept of
BCI. Minimal Capital requirement, less people, easier to expand.
Also continue to develop and move to a franchising business.
- Are there any aspects of our company's culture or work environment that you
believe could be improved to enhance overall job satisfaction and performance?

Improve on having customers satisfaction as a result. Training of staff and store


maintenance and upkeep needs Capital and improvement.

3) Design

- What is the company's long-term vision and strategic direction?

To become a Filipino restaurant institution known for its tradition of providing a


great eating experience, giving delightful and lasting memories to customers.
- Can you outline the key strategic goals the company aims to achieve in the
coming years?

1. To increase revenues and financial returns


2. To establish a strong Market Presence
3. To become well-know and to create a superior public image
4. To develop superior Taste and Quality of Food
5. To enhance the quality of Service, ambiance, and to maintain a reasonable
price
6. To establish systems to Standardize the operations
7. To create more jobs and provide a healthy working environment

- Does the company have plans for any kind of expansion (exploring new markets,
more regions, etc.)?

Yes, we are on a recovery stage after the pandemic and we are fixing the branches
and eventually expand if there are other opportunities.

- Are there plans for the development of new products or services in the near
future?

This development is always constant. We introduce or delete some products from


time to time
- How will these new offerings align with current customer needs and market
trends?
It should give the customer a feeling to go back again and try new products and
their favorite ones.
- How does the company plan to leverage technology and innovation to maintain a
competitive edge?

Technology is very important and the company must be open to improve it


services using the technology. E.g. delivery platforms using Apps etc.

- Are there specific areas of technological investment or innovation focus?

Delivery for added sales, marketing (use of social media and other new platforms),
human resource management, menu ordering and customer feedback.
- What strategies does the company have in place to drive revenue growth?

BCI’s Marketing Strategy is to create lasting relationships to its stakeholders

Yes, by having new concepts


- How does the company intend to improve operational efficiency and reduce
costs?

Documentation and standardization, applying best practices.


Adapting to new technology for efficiency and reduce manpower cost and time.
Use of central kitchen to demand for a better pricing / better offer from suppliers,
demand terms and manage inventory efficiently.
- Are there initiatives to streamline processes or optimize resource allocation?

Centralize supply of goods and supplies, centralize admin and maintenance.


Eliminate too much inventory. Managing and sharing of resources well.

- Does the company plan to expand its workforce or invest in employee


development?

Yes, looking for ways to continue training. Expand workforce if there are new
branches.
- Are there specific talent acquisition or retention strategies?

Hospitality sectors including restaurant are the most affected when globalization
opened its doors to hire Filipino Hospitality workers. But there are a big
percentage of workers that still prefer to work locally because of several reasons
such as family. So Capitalize on that and get their loyalty by treating them well.
- How will the company measure the success and progress of its future plans?

By Having Key Performance Indicators and making programs like giving incentives
if your reach a certain KPI’s.

- Are there key performance indicators (KPIs) or benchmarks in place?

Yes, such us:

1) Target Buster – a Branch reached or exceeds its Target for a particular


period.
2) Cost buster – A branch was able to maintain or lower its food cost.

- Can you provide a timeline or milestones for the execution of these future plans?

- How have you been involved in the development of the company's future strategic
plans?

You must be spearheading the development and future of your company. You
must be in the forefront.
- Can you outline the key strategies devised to achieve these goals?

- As you look at the future of your company, how do you see your role evolving to
help them achieve the long-term goals?

I will be more as a visionary and a consultant and implementor. The nitty gritty of
the development should be handled by the managers.
- Can you identify any possible challenges your company might face as they move
toward their overall goal, and how would you deal with them?

Entry of more international players, stiffer competition, very critical customers,


and drain of human resource.
- How will your leadership as a manager contribute to your company’s vision?

Just by doing what we love to do one step at a time. Just by starting small and
embracing growth.

- How do you imagine your company’s reputation and position in the market in the
future?

We will be able to achieve our vision:
