Interviewer: Hello, and welcome. Today, on Visit Britain Radio, we’re taking a tour of the city
of Oxford with Phil Gardiner. Phil is showing us something that is happening for
young people this summer.
Phil: Yes, we’ve got an exciting programme of Street Sport in Oxford this summer.
Interviewer: Street Sport? What’s that?
Phil: Well, they’re sports that we all know, but we play them outside in different parts
of the city. There’s street soccer, touch rugby, dodgeball and skater hockey.
Interviewer: I see. Are those children playing skater hockey? They’re having a great time. It
looks fun.
Phil: Yes, you’re right. They’re playing skater hockey. They aren’t running, they’re
moving on rollerblades. It’s exciting but it isn’t dangerous. The children love it.
Interviewer: Some children don’t like sport. Is there anything for them?
Phil: Yes, there is. We have a dance programme this summer. Young people can learn
different kinds of dance including street, hip hop, breakdance and lots more. The
programme is really fun. It’s in a sports centre in the east of the city for the
whole of August.
Interviewer: That sounds great, Phil. Thanks for showing us around.
