Types of Computers

*Types of Computers based on size

*Micro Computers
*The microcomputer is also recognized as a personal computer, these are created for general purpose
or personal use.
*Microcomputers are small computers created with a microprocessor, Central Processing
unit (CPU), memory, storage area, an input unit, and an output unit.
*It is a general-purpose computer that is outlined for personal use.
Used in office work, watching a movie, etc.
Examples include Desktop, Laptop, tablets, smartphones, etc.
The Mini Frame or Mini Computer
*This computer was smaller, less expensive and less powerful than a mainframe or supercomputerbut
more expensive and more powerful than a micro computer.
*it is larger than a microcomputer but smaller than the mainframe.
*multiple user can work at once because it has connection of more than one cpu.
*it is for tasks such as billing, accounting, and record management.
Mainframe Computer
*It is designed to manage heavy/more data
*it is multi programming ,high performance and multi user computer
more than 100 user can work on this computer at once.
The storage capability of the mainframe is very high quantity, with a high-speed data process as well.
it is mainly used in (jitna man ho utna likhe)Banks, Scientific research centres, companies, and
governmental departments like railways, paying employees, ticket booking, maintaining details of
purchases by users, keeping detailed tax details, etc.
Supercomputer
*Supercomputers come under the biggest, fastest, powerful, and most expensive type of computer for
processing data type;
*they are designed to process an immense amount of data.
*A supercomputer can process trillions of instructions/directions in a second.
*It has thousands of interconnected processors.
*Supercomputers are especially used in scientific and engineering applications such as weather
forecasting, quantum mechanics, climate research, scientific simulations, nuclear energy research, etc
where a high level of performance is required.
*Examples: IBM Roadburner, INTEL ASIC RED. PARAM-1000, BM Blue Gene, and CRAY-XMP-
14.
*Types of Computers: Working Principle and Data Handling Abilities
*Analog Computer
*Any of a class of devices in which continuously variable physical quantities such as electrical
potential , fluid pressure, or mechanical motion , are reprasented in a way analogous to the
corresponding quantities in the problem to be solved
* It measure physical units like the voltage, electric current, pressure, temperature and convert them
into digits. Such computers are mostly used for scientific, technology, research, engineering, and
industrial applications.
ex -Speedometer, mercury thermometer, thermometer, operational amplifiers, electric integrators, etc.
(di write as much example you want)

*Digital Computer
*digital computer are a device that need to be programmed in order to received the desired output.
*It operate on data (letter, symbol )that are expressed in a binary form (0,1)
* computers like laptops, desktops including smartphones, calculators, tablets, digital watches,
accounting machines, workstations, digital clocks etc that we use at home or office are digital
computers.
*Hybrid Computer
*Hybrid computers has a features of both Analog and Digital computers.
*It is fast like an analog computer and has memory and accuracy like those of digital computers.
*It takes analog signals(input) and transforms them into digital form before processing them.
ex - in petrol pump a computer measure the flow of petrol and calculate price and display on screen in
digital form .
*This only used in organisation where both analog and digital data are processed. *Furthermore, they
are used in aeroplanes, hospitals, and scientific applications.
