Overview of the role


This role will act as the Developer in an applications development and support team.

The team supports a range of internal-facing .Net applications and supporting processes.
These include web and desktop applications, cloud-based data services, and complex data
update processes. The team provides break/fix support and software enhancements.

The team is also at the forfont of the process to modernize our chart publication processes.
This is being achieved using microservices, event driven architecture and event sourcing.

Fundamental Tasks

• Coding in C# .Net to create fixes and new features


• Designing/Implementing resilient system designs
• Creating and managing deployment pipelines in Azure Devops
• Responding to incidents and diagnosing problems; ensure agreed support service
levels are met

Date of delivery
This will be a 6 month contract.

Essentials

• Sc level clearance at the point of application


• .Net development experience in C# and SQL
• Azure
• APIs (REST & SOAP)
• Good engineering skills, including CI/CD, Git, unit testing, OOP, secure development
• Good agile skills – team currently uses SCRUM methodology - including willingness
to pair programme

Desirables

• Event-driven architecture experience


• Powershell
• Azure Devops
• Event sourcing experience
• Experience developing microservices
• Entity Framework
• Microsoft Azure Devops Services / Team Foundation Server.
• Geospatial knowledge
• Containers
• ELK
• Mentoring junior developers

Hours
Normally a 5-day week, 8 hrs per day.
Nationality
This is a Ministry of Defence non-reserved post, for which applicants must be British citizens,
citizens of the Irish Republic, a Commonwealth state or EEA nations. Successful applicants
will require NSV security clearance you will, therefore, need to have resided in the UK for a
minimum of 5 years.

Clearance Level required for role

The role requires SC clearance; candidates must have active SC clearance at the point of
application.

Reminder
UKHO has the right to request IR35 evidence during your contract in line with the UKHO policy
on tax arrangement for off payroll appointments.
