LEGEND

The sun was shining brightly with its golden rays

Amplifying the atmosphere with joy and glee Red: Pauleen

For there is such a joyous occasion today Blue: Wendeli

The wedding of Orpheus and Eurydice.
Orange: Angelo

Orpheus: This is the moment my life has been waiting for, Yellow Highlight: Indicates Action

Eurydice, love and happiness, I want to give you more.

Eurydice gracefully walked with each step she takes (Enter si Queen from outside the Door)
Reaching Orpheus’ side, she made a fatal mistake
She suddenly collapsed, now in death’s wake (Queen Collapses, Angelo holds her)
The painful result from being bitten by a snake.

Orpheus rushed to hold her body in his embrace (Angelo acts sad)
Overcome with sadness as tears roll down his face
His heart filled with emptiness as it began to ache
He felt that at that moment, his world began to break.

(Pauleen and Wendeli cover Queen with a blanket for her make-shift funeral)

“There, there, cry no more young man (Wendeli comforts Angelo, para more interactive atong roleplay)
Your dearest is no longer here,
But she is now in better hands
Rest assured that she’s always near,
So dry those tears from your glands.”

(Pauleen and Wendeli go to center so attention is on them; Queen and KC exit/ hide)

Orpheus was in grief as his thoughts flew

There may be nothing he could have done
But there is one thing that he can do
And so he swore with resolve anew:
“My Dear Eurydice
I feel that you were taken too early
I shall plead to Hades and Persephone
So you can once again be with me.”

With his mind made up, he began his journey (Angelo stands up)
Venturing the underworld, no matter how eerie (Walks around the room and back into place; KC turns
to cerberus and is positioned in the center; Jack enters and stays near door)
Whatever obstacle that may come his way,
He would overcome with the music he plays.

Orpheus was met with the guard dog Cerberus (Angelo stops in front of KC; KC barks at Angelo, Arf arf)
The beast looked at him with a gaze so dangerous
But in that moment, Orpheus strummed his trusty lyre
(Angelo strums his lyre as background music plays)
The three-headed beast fell asleep as it was tired. (KC sleeps)

His next encounter was Cheron, the ferryman (Angelo stops in fron of Jack)
Who carried souls across River Styx for a fee
With another melody from the lyre in his hands, (Angelo plays lyre again)
Cheron ferried Orpheus across for free. (Jack and Angelo maglibot-libot sa room before mo-stop
somewhere and Angelo hops out the boat and exit sa door)

(KC and Jack Arrange chairs near the whiteboard, facing the door; Cue in Ira and Leoven)
At last, Orpheus arrived at Hades’ palace (Angelo re-enters through the door)
He knelt in front of Hades and his Queen Goddess (Angelo kneels in front of Ira and Leoven)
He pleaded with sincerity, pleasant words he chanted
All he wanted was for his wish to be granted.

Orpheus: King and Queen, I present to you my song. Allow Eurydice to be with me.
(Orpheus starts to play his lyre)
Persephone said to Hades: Oh please my dear, that gloomy melody, do you hear?
Allow them to be reunited.
Hades: Well what can I do? It's also making me feel blue. I agree with you.

And so King Hades granted Orpheus his plea

That he may bring back his darling Eurydice.
But before he could celebrate in total bliss
There was one rule he’d have to follow without miss.

Hades: But Orpheus, before you leave, take Eurydice back to Earth on one condition.
Orpheus: What condition?
Hades: She'll follow you, she will. However, you must not look back at her 'til you reach Earth again.
Orpheus: I understand, forever grateful for this. Soon this longing and pain will end.

Orpheus started climbing his way to return

(Angelo walks around the room, Queen slowly comes out of hiding/ reenters and follow behind Angelo
with minimal sounds)
With each step he took, his mind was filled with concern
Is she following him? How come he hears nothing?
There seems to be no sounds of footsteps nor breathing.

Just as he was one step away from the light of day (Angelo stops in front of door)
He stopped in his tracks, thinking if she was okay
So badly did he want to look back at her face
To see her smile back at him and feel her embrace.

After contemplating for quite some time in place

Hades’ words as he left began to resurface
“You must not look back if you wish to keep her
For if you do, she will be trapped here forever.”
But Alas, did he fell for the sweet temptation
Swiftly turning around to face her carnation (Angelo looks back at Queen)
As he did so, what he saw will scar him for a century
For there was Eurydice, gone once again for eternity.

Orpheus: Eurydice! (Shocked, eyes dilating) (Angelo tries to reach out)

Eurydice: Farewell (crying) (Queen being pulled back to the underworld by someone vacant)
Orpheus: Please, NOO!
(Angelo exits)
(Pauleen and Wendeli move to center)
What a tragic ending, don’t you think so?
Orpheus….He was so close, but he let it all go
Though we shouldn’t be one to judge him, whatever got into his head
For we do not know if we’d do the same if it was us instead.

From the conflict of Eurydice’s sudden death

To the climax of Orpheus daring to look back,
We must remember with our every breath
To be patient, faithful, and stay focused on our track.
