Lesson Plan in Mathematics EDU 108

This lesson plan aims to teach students about basic two-dimensional shapes and their corners. The lesson will begin with an overview of shapes like circles, squares, rectangles, and triangles. Students will then identify real-life objects that represent these shapes and count their corners. To conclude, students will demonstrate their understanding by creating an art project using the shapes and taking a short quiz.

Lesson Plan in Mathematics

Using Bloom’s Taxonomy

I. Learning Objectives

At the end of this lesson, the pupils will be able to:

a. Identify and describe basic two-dimensional shapes and their corners.

b. Classify objects based on their shapes.

c. Create a simple art using two-dimensional shapes.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: Shapes and Its Corners

Materials: picture cards of various shapes (circle, square, triangle, rectangle), real-life objects
with different shapes (Book, fruits)

III. Procedure

A. Preliminary Activities

1. Prayer

2. Classroom Management

3. Checking of Attendance

4. Review

5. Overview

B. Lesson Proper

1. Knowledge

> The teacher will show a chart that contains the two-dimensional shapes.
> The teacher will define the two-dimensional shape and the corner of a shape. A two-
dimensional shape is a flat figure or shape with two dimensions – length and width. Two-
dimensional or 2D shapes do not have any thickness. A corner is where two sides meet.

> The teacher will introduce the students to basic two-dimensional shapes and how many corners
it has.

2. Comprehension

> The teacher will discuss that the basic two-dimensional shapes are circles, squares, rectangles,
and triangles. The circle has 0 corners, the square and rectangle has 4 corners and the triangle has
3 corners.

3. Application

> The teacher will ask the students to roam around the room and find an object that represents
the basic shapes that were discussed.

> The teachers will ask the students to count the corners of the object they found.

4. Analysis

> The teacher will give a worksheet to students. The worksheet will contain the image of the
two-dimensional shapes and they will analyze it and name it after. (Change this one)

5. Synthesis

> The students will make a simple art that contains the basic two-dimensional shapes.

6. Evaluation

> The teacher will give a five (5) item quiz about the lesson.

The students will identify how many corners each shape has.

1. Square -

2. Rectangle –

3. Circle –

4. Triangle –
