The impact of technology to teachers and learners in the classroom.
Theoretical Approach
Technology has the way classroom instructions are handled today and
technology is changing the way we learn from zero to hero and the teaching
strategies has gone through the paradigm shift from the traditional education
to the recent education where the teacher’s role has changed to being a
facilitator of learning from being the sole of knowledge or information and also
that the learners has changed from being a receivers of spoon fed knowledge
to be the discovers of learning information and now the learners can perform
different given tasks and make effective learning with the technology.
According to John Dewey`s theory learning by doing has also made a huge
contribution to the teaching and learning using technology and this theory do
emphasize that knowledge is a tool that manages experience. Technology
allows the learners to write and illustrate their own knowledge and word
processing software does stimulates learners to have more interaction with
their work and to keep the effective learning (ITTE, 1983).
Technology does offers tool for critical thinking, curiosity and most exploring
intelligence as learners build mental models and technology does support
plans with electronic records such as having an online lesson, interviews and
completing the learners’ work and also that technology does allow effective
and more efficient communication between teachers and learners and it allows
the teachers to use technology as a teaching strategies and as a tool to do
administration work and other work related (Smith, 1995).

Literature Review
Technology is a big part of the world which we live and it has taken huge role
in our lives these days and learner and teachers live in the technological word
where they use technology most every day of their lives which includes texting,
web searching and socializing and they see this technology object very useful
an enjoyable in their lives (Christen, 2009).
Technology has changed the classroom into an interactive learning
environment where it is a contributor to teaching and learning if used to
deepen learners’ interaction and understanding in a very meaningful
curriculum and teachers should use technology in their classroom to support
the curriculum content so that the learners/ students can see the appropriate
use of technology and it benefit (DePasquale, McNamara, & Murphy, 2003).
Technology can also be used as a tool for establishing projects and to improve
critical thinking and problem-solving skills and it can be used to rebuild and
redesign the classroom to create a good and easy teaching and learning
environment which promotes the development of higher-order thinking skills
(Kurt, 2010)
In education technology has allowed knowledge information to be dispersed
quicker and more effective and also it allows the learners to learn in a different
classroom setting than before (Coffey, 2012).
Technology has positive impact on education based on those technological
developments such as power point presentations, YouTube, software all these
has become a source for teachers to help the learners to grasp information
easily (Miller, 2011). It makes the learners to have more interest to the subject
and to participate more in the classroom and it allows teachers to get a chance
to have their classroom attractive and interesting (Leising, 2013).
The negative impact of the use of technology in the classroom is that it
increases the incidents cheating because learners write formulas and notes on
graphing calculators with least chances of being caught (Shah, 2011). It is time
consuming from teachers’ point of view and can be health issues when used
over limits because if the teachers use computer/ laptop it can lead to anxiety
and eye issues or problems (Wenglinski, 1998).

Conceptualization/Operationalization
Learning – a person who is learning a skill/ subject content
Technology- a gadget used to make different operation and process easier.
Teacher- The finding of this research will help teacher understand the use of
technology and benefits.
Students- They will realize and understand the extent of technology use and if
impact on their learning
High- order thinking skills- Is a concept of education reform based on learning
taxonomies.
Research design
This section discusses the method and procedures used to collect information
of this study.
This study used the descriptive research design where there are interviews,
survey and questionnaire done by the teachers and learners in schools because
this research design is very flexible and also made use of the qualitative
research design which do focus on group discussion and informant interview
and also which helped to answer the research question to the study (Plano, et
al., 2010)
A cross-sectional survey design where by the questionnaire will be handed to
the respondents which is about how does technology has impact them in the
classroom and those respondents are the teachers and learners and it will be
the first and last Information data collected from the respondents and the
nature of the study is explanatory because the study is about explaining the
impact of technology in both teachers and learners in the classroom.
5
Research paradigm
The Critical orientated is used in the study because the study is related to the
reality and it to empower the learners and teacher with the knowledge of
technology. And the epistemological position because it deals with what the
impact of technology as we see that it has taken over in most part of our lives.
