01.Project Title:

Weed classification using machine learning

03.Abstract:
Weed classification a necessity in identifying species of weeds to control management
practice in agricultural systems, which are essential for maintaining crop productivity and
quality. Many classification techniques were used to identify weeds based on images, and
most of the techniques with the help of camera using machine learning for measuring the
percentage of accuracy.

04.Introduction:
Classification of weeds is an important issue in agricultural research in order to improve
the weed control system. In most cases, weed control strategies depend on the application of
chemical herbicides, which have had success in achieving higher profits with effective
against weed invasions. However, concerns regarding the environmental and economic
impacts of excessive herbicide applications have promoted increasing interest in finding
alternative weed control approaches.

06.Advantages:
01. It is equally important to identify the weeds in their adult stage so that we can
understand why they should not be allowed to produce seed. One mature lamb
squarters plant may produce 72,000 seeds. Why is weed identification important?
weeds produce seeds within a year that may emerge the season.

02. Getting Rid of Weeds Gives Back Valuable Nutrients, Light, & Air to Your Trees,
Plants, & Grass. Weeds tend to grow much more quickly than landscape plants,
trees, and gras.
07. Conclusion:
In conclusion, the project developed in this thesis hassuccessfully achieved. The principal
aim of this thesis was the implementation of a system able to identify crops and weeds using
machine learning with images captured by the FarmBot, which will later be compared with
FarmBot built-in weed detector. The accuracy obtained is not of a 100%, but the network
differentiates well enough the different type of plants it has been trained on. Therefore, the main
aim of the thesis is considered as accomplished.
The objectives have been also achieved. The FarmBot has been used to takes the pictures
and then those pictures have been correctly processed by Matlab, Project and camera was trained
and tested and then used to predict the crop and weeds at the pictures and also return the weed
coordinates. Finally, a comparison with other methods was done. Therefore, all the objectives
have succeeded.
