with an unforgettable and enriching experience.
MISSION
Our mission is to revive and celebrate the essence of Filipino culture through a vibrant sports
festival. We aim to engage students in the joyful participation of games, promoting physical
activity, teamwork, and cultural appreciation. By fostering a deep connection to our cultural
heritage, we aspire to create lifelong memories and instill a sense of pride in our Filipino
traditions among the participants.
EVENT OBJECTIVES:
Encourage participants to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of Filipino
culture, history, and traditions through active engagement.
Promote physical fitness, teamwork, and healthy competition among students while
having fun.
Encourage groups to showcase their team spirit by creating unique yells and team colors
and motivate every group member to eagerly join the various games available, giving
them the thrilling opportunity to reveal their hidden skills and dominate their chosen
games.
Offer a diverse range of games, including board games and active games, to cater to a
wide variety of interests and abilities.
Foster a sense of camaraderie and unity among participants, building a stronger sense of
togetherness.
The event will also be a feast for the senses, as we aim to entice the participants' taste
buds by offering a delectable array of Filipino-themed delicacies.
Ensure that students have a fun and enjoyable time while participating in these games,
creating positive memories associated with Filipino culture.
The event will be on Thursday, October 27, 2023, and it will take place in the Main Dining
Hall on the 3rd floor of the Academic Building.
The event, "SPORTSFEST: Laro ng Lahi: A Cultural Sports Extravaganza," has been
developed to reconnect students with their Filipino games through an engaging and nostalgic
experience. The festival strives to celebrate Filipino games from the Philippines by including
street, old-fashioned, and childhood versions of these games. It provides an opportunity for
students to actively participate in these traditional games, promoting physical activity, teamwork,
and cultural appreciation. Additionally, the event fosters a sense of unity among the participants.
The event is primarily aimed at attracting MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and
Exhibitions) students, including the MICE adviser, Ms. Tisha Marie Ongcoy, who will actively
participate in this fun cultural sports extravaganza.

CHAPTER I
BACKGROUND
The inspiration for the "SPORTSFEST: Laro ng Lahi: A Sports Extravaganza" event
sprouted from the desire to create an engaging and memorable experience for the MICE students.
It emerged from a recognition that many traditional Filipino games, both street and board games
that were formerly an essential part of Filipino childhoods, were becoming obsolete as a result of
the rise of digital entertainment and contemporary leisure activities. In order to provide students
a special chance to remember their youth and make new memories, Group 4, the organizing
team, recognized an opportunity to restore the excitement and nostalgia associated with these
activities.
This event has been previously staged all around the Philippines. These events frequently
take the form of cultural festivals, sporting activities, or get-togethers centered around nostalgia.
For instance, traditional Filipino games like the "Palarong Pambansa," incorporate traditional
sports and activities that have been a component of annual community festivals in a number of
different regions of the Philippines. In order to encourage physical exercise and preserve the
heritage of culture, some schools and organizations have also planned sporting and cultural
events with a focus on traditional games. Similar to "SPORTSFEST: Laro ng Lahi," these
gatherings encourage an active and enjoyable method of honoring Filipino culture by reuniting
attendees with their roots.
