Title : Implementation of rectifier circuits and analysis of NAND gate and OR gate.

Objective: The electronic device laboratory explores the practical and simulated applications of
diodes. One such application is rectification, which converts AC voltage to stable DC voltage.
During the open-ended lab, students design a full wave rectifier to achieve a stable DC voltage,
which they then utilize to implement various logic gates. In addition to conducting the experiment,
students must compare the data obtained through simulation and experimentation and write a report
on their findings.

Theory and Methodology:


Diode rectifiers are of the following types:
1. Half-wave rectifier.
2. Full-wave bridge rectifier.
3. Center-tapped Full-wave rectifier.
A rectifier, however, cannot produce a smooth DC voltage. So, the rectification block that makes
the output DC voltage a smooth one follows a filter circuit. In this case, the capacitor acts as a
smoothing filter so that the output is nearly a dc voltage. Filtering is not perfect; there will be a
remaining voltage fluctuation known as ripple, on the output voltage.
The half-wave voltage signal is normally established by a network with a single diode that has an
average or equivalent DC voltage level equal to 31.8% of the peak voltage, whereas the full wave
rectified signal has twice the average or DC level of the half-wave signal or 63.6% of the peak
value.

NAND GATE :
A NAND gate is a type of logic gate in digital electronics that performs the NAND (NOT-AND)
operation. It has two or more input signals and one output signal. The output of the NAND gate is
"high" (1) only if both of its input signals are "low" (0). In all other cases, the output of the NAND
gate is "low" (0).

OR GATE :
An OR gate is a type of logic gate in digital electronics that performs the OR operation. It has two
or more input signals and one output signal. The output of the OR gate is "high" (1) if at least one
of its input signals is "high" (1). Otherwise, the output of the OR gate is "low" (0).

Simulation :

Result: It can be observe that data table support the NAND and OR gates truth table.

Discussion and conclusion:


In this experiment, we became familiar NAND and OR gate. In this experiment, we have
constructed a full wave rectifier circuits, given some input voltage, and seen the output of the
waveform in the oscilloscope.
During the experiment, we assumed to use some ideal diodes. But on a practical level, every diode
has some internal resistance and some diode voltage. So, the waveform may vary.
During the experiment procedure, we built the circuits according to the circuit diagram. We had to
make sure not to remove or insert a diode into a circuit with voltage apply as it may damage the
diode. We also had to make sure that a replacement diode in the circuit is in the right direction.
