Course Title: WORLD LITERATURE

No. of Units: 3 hours/ week

Course Description:

This is introduction to the international scope of literature written in English. Selected works of fiction, drama, and poetry from a variety of post-colonial societies will be studied
in relation to the histories of those societies and the development of the forms. It is a three-unit course that develops student’s communicative competencies and enhances
his/her cultural and intercultural awareness through multimodal tasks that provide them opportunities for communicating effectively and appropriately to a multicultural
audience in a local and global context. The knowledge, skills and insights that students gain from this course, may be used in their other academic endeavors, their chosen
disciplines, and their future careers as they compose and produce relevant oral, written, audio-visual and/ or web-based output for various purposes.

1. Identify the different literatures by discerning their historical backgrounds.


2. Identify the genres of literature and the philosophical foundations that strengthen the teaching of World literature.
