Dear candidate, On the basis of your performance in JEE-2010 the Organising Committee of JEE-2010 has found you eligible to attend PREPARATORY COURSE of one year duration. Your name has been recommended to the IT-BHU for registration in this course for the Session 2010-11. The Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University is pleased to inform you that the academic session for the Preparatory Course students will commence on August 21, 2010 with the registration. The classes will start from August 23, 2010. While attending the course you must make a note of the following points :1. You are advised to reach Varanasi at least a day before i.e. by August 20, 2010. 2. You have been provisionally allotted accommodation in Morvi (Boys Hostel)/Gandhi Smriti Mahila Chhatravas (Girls Hostel). On arrival, you may contact the person on duty in the hostel to get your room opened. The formal allotment will be made by the Administrative Warden of the concerned hostel subject to your completing the necessary formalities. 3. The Preparatory Course will consist of about 22 contact hours per week covering PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY, MATHEMATICS and ENGLISH of the 10+2 level of Higher Secondary School System. The course will be of two semesters with an inter semester break. At the end of each semester an examination will be conducted by the Institute, in addition to mid-semester tests, home assignments etc. 4. At least 80% attendance is mandatory. 5. Minimum qualifying marks will be 40% each in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM), and 30% in English, aggregated at the end of the year. 6. The Preparatory Course students will be awarded satisfactory or unsatisfactory grades in the laboratory courses. Every student has to get a satisfactory grade in the laboratory courses to pass the preparatory course. 7. If you qualify in the Preparatory Course, you will be admitted in the First Year of the Undergraduate/M.Tech. Dual Degree/Integrated Master Degree programmes at ITBHU in the Session of 2011-12. The branch will be allocated to you on the basis of: a) your performance in PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY and MATHEMATICS only in the Preparatory Course. In case of a tie, English marks will be considered. If there is still a tie, JEE ranks will be used to break the tie, and b) against the vacant seats available in the respective category for SC/ST in the Session 2010-11. 8. If you do not qualify in the Preparatory Course in the first attempt, you will neither be admitted to the Undergraduate/M.Tech. Dual Degree/ Integrated Master Degree Part-I course, nor be allowed to repeat the Preparatory Course. You may note that there is no provision of any supplementary examination / re-examination for Preparatory Course students. 9. Please submit original alongwith a Xerox copy of the enclosed Affidavit on non-judiciary stamp paper of Rs. 10.00 each regarding ragging duly completed and signed, at the time of registration. affidavit and read carefully. The Institute on its part is also trying to curb ragging and is taking all necessary steps to stop the same. 10. You may further note that hostel inmates are not allowed to keep/use automated

2/4-wheelers while they are the students of this Institute. Therefore, keeping/using automated 2/4-wheelers by you as IT-student will be treated as violation of the University rules and will invite appropriate disciplinary action. All such vehicles will be towed away by the security people. Please also submit enclosed undertaking regarding vehicle at the time of registration.
11. The cooperative mess is mandatory for the new entrants. You will be required to

deposit Rs. 10000.00 (Rupees Ten Thousand Only) in cash in the concerned hostel towards mess charges.
If you accept the above terms and conditions, you are required to report in the Committee Room of the IT-Directorate, Banaras Hindu University at 10.30 a.m. on 21st August 2010 along with a Demand Draft for Rs. 7531.00 in favour of the Registrar, Banaras Hindu University payable at State Bank of India, Banaras Hindu University (Code 0211).
