Method Statement SS Underground

The document outlines a 13-step method statement for installing stainless steel drainage pipes. The key steps include: 1) storing pipes and fittings securely, 2) ensuring the proper team and tools are available, and 3) marking locations and excavating trenches according to the drainage design. Pipes and fittings are then installed using push fittings and inspected for flow and leaks before covering and backfilling the trenches.

Method Statement (Hael)

1. Storage

Store the received S/S pipes and fittings at a safe and secure area to protect it from damage from heat,
water and other ongoing activities.

2. Ensuring availability of proper team and tools

Confirm with Foreman that proper team of technicians and labors is available with proper tools and
equipment.

3. Raise request for survey

Request a survey for establishing reference points, slope, depth etc.

4. Start marking

Identify & Mark the outline of the precise locations where the drainage pipes will be installed. To
ensures accurate alignment and placement of the pipes according to the drainage design.

5. Raise request for sand/Fillings (quantity to be determined at site)

Determine the required quantity of sand or fill material based on site conditions and request its delivery
to facilitate the installation.

6. Start Excavation

Begin digging trenches according to the marked locations, and predetermined levels to create a pathway
for the drainage pipes. The trench size does not require to be of specific dimensional ratios but has to be
of pre-determined depth, taking into account complete piping network and slope.

7. Prepare sand bed

Usually, a sand bend is not always required for laying S/S Pipes, however a small thickness sand bed can
be prepared to ensure proper leveling and prevent slippage. Make sure the bed extends to entire trench
floor, the slope of the pipe has to be taken care of during the bed preparation.

8. Install Pipes and fittings

Once the excavation is complete, proceed with the installation of stainless-steel pipes and fittings as per
the approved design and specifications. The Blucher S/S pipes are push fitted in underground drainage
therefore no welding or mechanical joining process would be required.

However, a proper pipe cutting tool would be required for smooth finished cuts.

Pipe fitting would also be installed using the push fit method.
9. Inspect for flow and leakage

After installing the pipes and fittings, inspect the system to ensure proper flow and check for any
potential leakage and checking of flow and the alignment of the fittings, it can be done by the following
ways:

 Visual Inspection- to check for alignments and positions of the pipe fittings.
 Flow Direction inspection- It can be done by introducing water or other liquid and manually
tracing the bath of the flow.
 Leakage test- For the S/S Pipes pressure test can be done to check for any sort of leakages.

10. Raise a request for inspection by consultant/client

Request an official inspection to verify that the installation complies with regulations and standards
before proceeding further.

11. Cover, Backfill and Compaction

After confirming that the pipes and fittings are installed correctly and meet the desired specifications,
Cover the piping work with sand or any fine aggregate, Fill the trench with backfill material. Compact in
layers to prevent settling and provide stability to the pipes.

12. Site clean-up

Remove excess material from site & ensuring clean and safe work areas.

13. Precautionary measures during the concreting process

During the laying of aggregate materials, compacting and concreting process it is to be made sure that
none of the fittings dislocate or mis-align.
