Philippines Population

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing (2020

CPH), which was released today by the Philippine Statistics Authority
(PSA), there will be 109,035,343 people living in the Philippines as of
May 1, 2020. In accordance with Proclamation No. 1179 from July 6,
2021, the President of the Philippines has deemed this count to be
official for all purposes.
The population of the Philippines is the total number of people
who were present in all 17 of its administrative regions at 12:01 AM
on May 1, 2020. Filipinos working overseas at Philippine embassies,
consulates, and missions are also included. The population of the
Philippines increased by 8,053,906 from 100,981,437 in 2015, for a
population growth rate (PGR) of 1.63 percent annually. In contrast,
the country's population increased at a faster rate, 1.72 percent, from
2010 to 2015.
In 2020, Region IV-A (CALABARZON), one of the 17
administrative regions, had the most residents (16,195,042), followed
by the National Capital Region (NCR) (13,484,462), and Region III
(Central Luzon), with 12,422,172. In 2020, the population of these
three areas together made up around 38.6% of the total Philippine
population. The Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), which had
1,797,660 people, Region XIII (Caraga), which had 2,804,788 people,
and MIMAROPA Region, which had 3,228,558 people, were the three
least inhabited regions.
Region IV-A (CALABARZON) saw the largest rise in population
since the Population Census of 2015 (POPCEN 2015), with a
population increase of 1,780,268 people from 2015 to 2020. The
Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), on
the other hand, experienced the greatest growth from the POPCEN
2015, with an annual PGR of 3.26 percent from 2015 to 2020.
Eastern Visayas, in Region VIII, has the lowest PGR, at 0.50 percent.

B. Maps

The Philippines is an archipelago of more than 7,000 islands with an

area of 115,831 square miles (300,000 square kilometres). Even though
most of the islands are quite tiny, some larger ones, like Luzon and
Mindanao, make up a significant amount of the total surface area.

The three divisions of the islands—Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao—

represent the north, centre, and south, respectively. The Philippines has an
average population density of 939 persons per square mile, despite some
islands being significantly more crowded than others (363 people per square
kilometre).

With a population of 2,936,116, Quezon City is the biggest city in the

Philippines. It is a component of the larger Metropolitan Manila region,
which has a total population of 12.8 million people and is made up of 17
cities and municipalities. The fact that the entire Greater Manila urban area
extends outside Metro Manila's boundaries and is estimated to be home to
22.7 million people, or 25% of the country's total population, further
complicates matters.

Only Davao City is located outside of the Metropolitan Manila area;

other significant cities include Manila itself (population: 1,780,148),
Caloocan (population: 1.5 million), and Davao City (population: 1.6 million).
C. Graphs
From the website world population review, the current
population of the Philippines is at 116, 365, 543. This is a real time
population quick count of the country as of December 17, 2022.

Population Growth Rate

In 2020, there will be 55.02 million (50.6%) households out of 108.67
million. Compared to 53.65 million (49.4%) females. By age group under 15
years old made up 33.4 million people (30.7%). (Young dependents). On the
other side, people aged 15 to 64 (also known as the working-age or
economically active population) made up 69.40 million (63.9%), while people
65 and over (also known as elderly dependents) made up the remaining 5.86
million (5.4%). Individuals aged 0 to 14 years, 15 to 64 years, and 65 years
and beyond made up 32.0, 63.3, and 4.8 percent, respectively, of the total
population in 2015 number of households.
The Philippine population's median age has been rising throughout the
three decades prior. The median age in 2020 was calculated to be 25.3
years, which indicates that the median age of the household's occupants
was half of the population is under 25,3, while the other half is over 25,3.
The median ages here are greater than the 24.3 and 23.3 median ages that
respectively uploaded in 2015 and 2010.
In 2020, a 103-sex ratio for the Philippines was calculated. Accordingly,
there were 103 men for every 100 women. 2015 saw a little lower sex ratio of
102 males for every 100 females.

In 2020, there were 107 males for every 100 females in the population
under the age of 15, compared to 103 males for every 100 females in the
population between the ages of 15 and 64. In addition, there were 73 men
for every 100 females among people 65 and older. This shows either a
greater death rate for men than women in the older age groups or a longer
average life expectancy for women.

In 2020, there were 31.40 million young people or people between the
ages of 15 and 30. This is an increase from the 29.39 million (29.2%)
registered in 2015. According to Republic Act No. 8044, people in this age
bracket are deemed to be of voting age for the Sangguniang Kabataan in the
Philippines (Sangguniang Kabataan Act of 2015).
In 2020, there were 68.95 million households with people of voting age,
up from 62.26 million households with people of voting age (61.9%) in 2015.

Senior citizens in the Philippines are those who are 60 years of age or
older. They represented 9.22 million households, or 8.5 percent of all
households, in 2020, up from 7.53 million households, or 7.5 percent, in
2015. In 2020, there were more females (55.5%) than males (44.5%) among
the elderly. In 2015, the similar pattern was seen.

There were 27.85 million women of reproductive age (15 to 49 years old).
About 51.9% of the 53.65 million female households in the United States in
2020. These numbers were less than the 52.2 percent (26.02 million) written
in 2015.

The aging index, or the percentage of people 60 and older per

100 children under the age of 15, was calculated to be 27.6% in the
Philippines in 2020. Accordingly, there are four children under the age
of 15 for every individual who is 60 years old or older. The aging index
was 23.4, or 4.2 points lower, in 2015.
D. Projections
About 113 million people live in the Philippines as of today.
Since 1960, when it was 3.3%, to the present, when it is roughly
1.3%, the annual population growth rate has declined dramatically.
The Philippines' fertility rate has likewise dramatically declined
over time. The fertility rate was 6.4 children for per woman in 1969.
Today, there are 2.1 children born to every woman. The growing use of
contraceptives and contemporary family planning techniques is one
factor in this.
The population is projected to double in around 40 years due to
an annual population increase of about 2 million.
Future population growth in the Philippines is anticipated to
moderate, although it should still be significant. By 2050, the present
growth rate of 1.52% is anticipated to be cut in half. By 2020, 110
million people will live there, and by 2030, 125 million.
