System Concept

The document proposes the TransitMatic bus scheduling system to address challenges with inefficient bus scheduling, limited passenger information access, and inadequate terminal management. The system would allow administrators to efficiently manage bus records and schedules. Passengers could access real-time bus schedules and ticket information. Dispatchers could update bus locations to keep passengers informed. The proposal outlines objectives, scope, and a use case diagram for the system.

ABSTRACT

The TransitMatic: Bus Scheduler System is an online platform to be develop to streamline

bus scheduling and information dissemination for passengers, administrators, and dispatchers.
This system leverages a MySQL database and various technologies to display real-time
information about buses, schedules, and ticket details. It offers secure user access and electronic
reporting for efficient decision-making. This proposal outlines the significance of the study,
objectives, scope, limitations, system model, and use case diagram for TransitMatic.
Introduction

The TransitMatic: Bus Scheduler System is an online platform design and develop in
MySQL and various technologies.

Displays information for dispatching list of buses, time, information about tickets and other
information about buses. Provides easy access to makes schedule for buses. Provides security and
user privacy access. Displays the bus information (time arrival, bus number, time schedule, etc.).

Electronic reports on system, next bus, and list of buses will arrive that time, by bus number
and bus arrival basis for decision-making.

Background of the Study:

Public transportation plays a crucial role in urban areas, ensuring efficient mobility for
hundreds of passengers daily. However, managing bus schedules, passenger information, and
terminal operations can be challenging. The TransitMatic: Bus Scheduler system concept aims to
address these challenges by providing centralized platform that enhances bus scheduling,
passenger convenience and terminal management. This system concept recognizes the need for
modernizing bus transportation systems to meet the demands of the digital age.

Statement of the Problem:

In the modern urban transportation, the management of bus schedules, passenger information,
and terminal operations presents several significant challenges and inefficiencies. These
challenges include:

1. Inefficient Bus Scheduling: Traditional methods of scheduling buses often rely on manual
processes that are prone to errors and delays. This inefficiency can result in buses not
arriving on time or experiencing delays during their routes.
2. Limited Information Accessibility: Passengers often lack easy access to real-time bus
schedules, making it difficult for them to plan their journeys effectively. Current bulletin
board systems may not provide up-to-date information, leading to passenger
inconvenience.
3. Inadequate Terminal Management: Terminal in-charges struggle to maintain organized
records of buses, drivers, and schedules. The lack of a centralized system hinders their
ability to make informed decisions based on accurate data.
4. Security and Privacy Concerns: Ensuring the security of passenger information and user
privacy is paramount. The existing systems may not provide robust security measures to
protect sensitive data.
5. Lack of Decision Support: Terminal managers and administrators often lack access to
electronic reports and data analytics, making it challenging to make data-driven decisions
regarding bus operations and schedules.
6. Dependency on Manual Updates: Dispatchers rely on manual communication to update
bus locations and terminal information. This manual process may lead to delays in updating
bus locations and communicating them to passengers.

These challenges collectively hinder the efficiency, convenience, and security of the existing
bus transportation system, leading to passenger dissatisfaction and operational inefficiencies for
terminal authorities. Addressing these issues is vital for improving the overall quality of bus
transportation services and enhancing the experience for both passengers and administrators. The
proposed TransitMatic: Bus Scheduler System aims to mitigate these problems by providing a
comprehensive, user-friendly, and technologically advanced solution.

Objective of the Study:

The primary objectives of the TransitMatic: Bus Scheduler System are as follows:

1. To create a user-friendly online platform for scheduling buses and disseminating real-time
information.
2. To improve terminal management by allowing administrators to monitor and update bus
records efficiently.
3. To provide passengers with easy access to bus schedules and ticket information.
4. To enhance decision-making for terminal in-charges through electronic reporting.
Significance of the Study

The results of the study were deemed beneficial to the following:

1. Terminal In charge. They were able to monitor the buses record in an organized way as
well as came up with decisions based on facts gathered by the system.
2. They were able to inquire and update obligations easily using one of the features of the
developed system.
3. They were able to take their schedules for the arrival of their bus in the terminal. And also
making their way to arrive on the exact time in the terminal.
4. They were able to check the information about the tickets if were given exactly to the
passengers.
5. The passengers will now be able to view the schedule of trips online and using their
smartphone.

Scope and Limitation:

The scope of this study includes the development of the TransitMatic system, which
comprises features for administrators, dispatchers, and passengers. However, this proposal
acknowledges certain limitations, such as the need for an internet connection to access the system
and potential technical issues that may arise during operation.
Features:

Admin

• Manage Dispatcher (search, create, update, delete record)

• Manage Schedule (search, create, update, delete record)
• Manage Bus Info (search, create, update, delete record)

Dispatcher

• Update the terminal Location of the bus

Viewer-Passengers

• View the schedule information in the bulletin board and in mobile app

Flow of the System

1. Admin will encode first the following details

I. Drivers
II. Bus Info
III. Dispatchers
2. Then Admin will encode the schedule of trips
3. The dispatcher will then update the trip if that bus reaches the bus stop or terminal. Ex. if
the bus stops at terminal 1 then the terminal Location will then update, and the viewers
from other terminal will be able to see that the certain bus is at terminal 1.
4. Passengers
I. View the schedule information in the bulletin board.
