Detailed Lesson Plan in BSED SCINCE III

Content Standard: The learners demonstrate an understanding of the difference

between animal and plant cells.
Performance Standard: The learners should be able employ appropriate
techniques using the compound microscope to gather data
about very small objects.
Learning Competency: Differentiate plant and animal cells according to presence
and absence of certain organelles (S7LT-IId-4). Explain why
cell is considered the basic structural and functional unit of all
organism (S7LT-IIe-5)

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson the learners should be able to:
a. Use correct terminology to discuss the cell structure and tissues of
the body;
b. Identify and explain the structure and functions of cells and tissues
of the body;
c. Explain why cell is considered the basic structural and functional
unit of all organism.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: Cells and Tissues

III. Learning Resources:

References: Science Curriculum Guide p. 112, EASE Biology Module 2.
Materials: Pictures, activity sheets, PowerPoint presentation, laptop and
projector.
Values Integration: discuss the importance of structures and functions
of cells tissue of the body.

IV. Procedure

Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity

Preliminary Activities

a. Prayer
Christian, kindly led the prayer. In the name of the father
and of the son…Amen

b. Greetings
Good morning, students. Good morning, ma’am.

Before we continue, Let’s sing the song

“Oh, its science time after all”.
1, 2, 3 and sing.

Oh, it’s science time after all (4x) (Students are singing)

Arrange your chairs properly, pick up the (Students are arranging

pieces of papers around you and you may their chairs properly)
now take your seats.

c. Checking of Attendance None, ma’am.

Is there any absent in the class?

That’s great.

d. Recalling of the Classroom Rules

Let us recall our guidelines when we are
inside the classroom.
Classroom Rules: The 5 P’s
1. Be prepared
2. Be positive
3. Be productive
4. Be respectful
5. Be participative

Reviewing the previous lesson

(Elicit)

From the previous lesson, you have learned the flow of

energy between organisms that can be shown by a food
chain or a food web and how materials cycle in an
ecosystem.
(Students are raising
Again, what are these three cycles that include in
their hand)
biochemical cycle?
Water cycle
Yes, Princess.
Oxygen-Carbon cycle
Nitrogen cycle

That’s correct!
In a food chain, give the components of the trophic The components of
levels. trophic levels are Primary
producer, primary
consumers, secondary
consumer, tertiary
consumer and
decomposer.

Excellent! None, ma’am.

Do you have any question regarding our past lesson?
I appreciate that you thoroughly understand.

Establishing a purpose (motivation)

(ENGAGE)

Let’s proceed to our new lesson, which is all cells and

tissues of the body. Who wants to read our objectives?

Yes, Ivan.
(Students are raising
their hands)

At the end of the lesson,

the learners should be
able to:
a. Use correct
terminology to
discuss the cell
structure and
tissues of the body;
b. Identify and
explain the
structure and
functions of cells
and tissues of the
body; and
c. Explain why cell is
considered the
basic structural
and functional unit
of all organism.

Thank you, Ivan.

Can you arrange this word, class? CELL
LELC

Clue: I’m like a house, I have a wall, and other parts

inside
MITOCHONDRIA
How about this word?
OMINTHCOAIRD

Clue: I’m a real “powerhouse of the cell”, that’s plain to

see, I break down food, release energy. CYTOPLASM

Another word.
PLYCOTMSA

Clue: I’m the fluid in the cell that fill in the space, my
main purpose, is to hold organelles in space.

How about this last one? NUCLEUS

CUULESN

Clue: I’m the brain of the cell.

Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills

number 1)
(Explore)

Let’s understand our lesson, I will play a short videos

from YouTube which is related in our topics. Class
kindly watch and listen the video.

Are you ready? (ALL)

(Yes ma’am)

Did you enjoy watching class? (ALL)

(Yes ma’am)

Ok. Now after watching, what words or things you still (students raising
remember? Anyone their hands)

Yes, Samantha I remember the word

cells and tissues.
Very good! Samantha, you really watch and
understand the video.

Another from the last row? Yes

(other student will also
share what they have
notice in the video)

Ok. Class you are all correct. The video shows the
structures and functions of cells tissues of the body.

Developing mastery leads to Assessment

(Explain)

To understand our lesson further, let’s proceed to our

discussion.

Class discussion with power point presentation (students will listen and
take down notes)

Chapter 3: Cells and tissues

Class again what is cell? Do you have already know Yes ma’am
about it? (students raising their
hands)
Yes, Allyssa. Cell is the basic unit of
life.

Very good! Cell is the simplest unit of living matter.

Core concepts
-explain how cells differ from one another.

-Explain how the structure of a cell membrane makes

possible its functions

-Explain how substances move into and out of cells

-Explain and describe the four major tissue types, and

indicate a function of each type.

Finding practical applications of concepts and skills

in daily living
(Elaborate)

Now let’s have a game, this game is called “label me”.

Are excited everyone? Yes ma’am!

Explaining the mechanics.

-I will group you into two. Each group is task to label
the parts of the cell. The group who will finish first will
be a winner.

Before we do that, let us recall the guidelines in doing Be cooperative.

an activity. What Is the first step?

That’s right. What else?

Show respect to your
group mates.

Don’t disturb other

groups.

Follow directions
correctly.

It’s time to go to your respective groups.

Okay, everyone give me 6 and a half claps if you are (Students will clap 6 and
ready and excited for the game. a half times.)
Okay, your timer starts now.

Evaluating Learning- quiz

Additional activities for the lesson- (homework)

(Extend-5 minutes)

For your assignment:

Explain. How the cells and tissues of the body helps in
maintaining homeostasis.

Reminder: you are allowed to search some info in the

internet but do not forget to include its reference.
Yes, ma’am.
Is everything clear?

Alright. See you, ma’am.

That’s all for today, I hope you learn something. See
you again tomorrow
