My initial post

Based on my self-assessment scores, I experienced slight improvements in my technical

proficiency and digital literacy, while my social competence score decreased. My overall digital

fluency score remained the same.

There are several factors that may have influenced these changes. For the increase in

technical proficiency and digital literacy scores, I believe it could be attributed to my continued

exposure to and practice with various digital tools and platforms. As I gained more experience

and familiarity, my confidence and abilities in these areas grew, leading to the slight increase in

scores.

On the other hand, the decrease in my social competence score could be influenced by a

lack of active engagement and participation in online communities and social platforms. I may

not have been as involved in discussions, collaboration, or networking as much as I could have
2

been during the assessed period. This highlights the importance of consistent interaction and

building relationships in the digital realm to improve social competency.

If my scores stayed relatively the same, I believe it could be due to a combination of

factors. One possibility is that I may have reached a plateau in my current level of digital

fluency, where further improvement requires more targeted and deliberate efforts. Additionally,

external constraints such as time limitations or lack of exposure to new digital tools and trends

could contribute to the stability of my scores.

To someone wanting to increase their digital fluency, I would provide the following advice:

1. Actively seek out new digital tools and platforms: Dedicate time to exploring and

experimenting with various digital tools that align with your interests and goals. This

hands-on approach can help to build technical skills and increase confidence in

utilizing different technologies.

2. Engage in online communities and networks: Participate in discussions, forums, and

social media groups related to your areas of interest. Networking and collaborating

with others in the digital space can enhance social competency and provide

opportunities for knowledge sharing and learning.

3. Continuously learn and adapt: Recognize that digital fluency is an ongoing process

and that technology is constantly evolving. Stay curious and open-minded, and

actively seek out learning resources such as online courses, tutorials, and industry

publications to stay up-to-date with the latest digital trends and developments.
3

By actively engaging with digital tools, communities, and embracing lifelong learning,

individuals can enhance their digital fluency and navigate the digital landscape with confidence

and proficiency.

Best,

Jacquetta Thomas.
