The Definitions: - A personal letter is a type of letter (or informal composition) that usually concerns personal matters (rather than professional concerns) and is sent from one individual to another. It's longer than a dashed-off note or invitation and is often handwritten and sent through the mail. - A personal letter or a friendly letter is a type of letter which concerns personal matters. It is sent from one individual to his/her friends, relatives, parents, etc. Personal letters may help you to maintain and build personal relationship with them. 2. The Social Functions: The social function of personal letter is to strengthen the bond of the relationship between the two parties of the personal letter. 3. The Generic Structures: - Date Date when the letter is writen (top left). - Address Place where you are writing fron (top right). - Salutation and Name Greeting and the person’s name you are writing to. - Introduction The opening of the letter usually starts with “how are you?” or refers to previous letter. - Body The main part of the letter. It includes what you want to write to the other person. - Closure The part indicates the letter is going to end. - Complementary Close/Sign Off Short expressions like “love you” , “sincerely yours” , “love”. - Signature Signature or initials of the writer. - Postscript PS After thougt in a letter. You begin with P.S. and end it with your initials. 4. The Language Features: - Focus on exchanging personal current news, feelings, and conditions - Use of pronouns, simple present tense, and past tense - Use of date and address - Informal greetings or salutations INVITATIONS 1. An invitation usually contains some information about the host, the date and time of the event, the venue of the event and how to accept the invitation. An invitation is usually sent many days in advance of the event, to give the invitees an opportunity to respond to the invitation. 2. Written invitations can be in the form of letter or card which are printed on paper or sent via mail or email. An invitation letter is a document that presents a formal request for the presence of an individual, a group of people or an organization at an event. An invitation may be formal or informal, and it can also be in the printed form or soft file sent via email. 3. The Definitions: - An advertisement text is a form of written or typewritten advertisement that intends to share a narrative about a product. This comes into the form of an ad copy. Texts may appear through captions of social media posts, billboards, posters, or fliers that market the brand. - Advertisement text is a public announcement commonly found in a newspaper, television, or internet advertising. Sometimes it is about a product, services, or an event for sale. - Advertisement is a text that has a purpose to announce a product to attract the readers and to make the product to be more popular among the general public through communication or writing with the user of the product or service. 3. The Social Functions: - To advertise some product or service. To persuade people to buy some products and services - To attract the listener or reader to buy or use the product or services being advertised. - Promoting, offering or persuading people to choose the product or service advertised. 4.
