E.Motivation

We will have a game entitled “Tagline Sounds Familiar”. I will divide


you into two groups. Each group will receive an improvised board
and a piece of chalk. The task of the group is to guess the name of
the television commercial based on the “ tagline” that I will read.

Here the mechanics of the game:


A. The teacher will read the tagline twice.
B. If you hear the word “go”, you will start your brainstorming.
C. I will give you 10 seconds to think and write your answer.
D. If you hear the word “stop, and raise your board.
E. In case of late response, the group’s answer will not be credited,
but they may participate again in the next time.
F. The highest pointer will be declared as winner.

Since, you did well, let’s move to our topic which is related to our
activity.

A. Lesson Proper/Discussion of the lesson

As human beings, we use the art of persuasion in our daily lives.


Sales person, politicians, con artist, teacher and even you
boyfriend/girlfriend used persuasion to convince you or someone to
do something you suggest. Understanding it cannot only help you
learn how to influence others; it can also make you more aware of
the technique others might use to try and change your beliefs and
behaviors. One of the techniques commonly used to persuade is
propaganda.

In this part of the module, you will learn more about the nature of
propaganda and how to analyze propaganda techniques.

Propaganda it is a form of communication that is aimed at


influencing the attitudes, perspectives and emotions of people or
communities toward some cause or position by presenting only one
side of an argument. It is usually repeated and presented over a
wide variety of media in order to attract the interests of a greater
majority.

Types of Propaganda Techniques. There are several ways and/or


techniques on how to persuade people to buy products, accept
ideas, and avail services.
