ChatGPT - An Honest Manual

This document discusses how to effectively use ChatGPT by providing prompts and context to maximize its potential while avoiding risks and limitations. It outlines a 4 module training program on: 1) Understanding ChatGPT's capabilities and limitations, 2) Identifying opportunities to structure prompts and workflows, 3) Managing risks by ensuring prompts provide appropriate context, and 4) Knowing when to consult a human expert for very specific questions. The goal is to leverage ChatGPT's strengths like summarization and brainstorming through clear prompting to improve performance and save both time and money.

Awareness
Build a healthy “relationship”
with ChatGPT

It’s not a devil.

It’s not an angel.
It’s just a Large Language
Model (LLM) that uses huge
sums of data.
Generative
Pre-trained
Transformer

Awareness
Due to its Language Model
nature,
it’s an assistant who is
incredibly good in particular
tasks, e.g. summarization,
brainstorming and not as good
in other very simple tasks,
e.g. factual cross-checking.
Remember though that GPT-4 (the next GPT
version) will be soon available and thousands
of times more powerful/intelligent.

Awareness
We now use ChatGPT as an
intelligent AI-Assistant.
Not an Analyst or a Manager.
Like any other Assistant, its
value depends on how good
the Manager's (Human’s)
question/prompt is.

Prompts/Questions are the
foundation of all AI tools,

from AI platforms.

Opportunities.
Workflows & Prompts.
Best way to start a prompt
thread is to:
a) baptize your AI-Assistant (ChatGPT)
with the prompt: “Act as a ______”
b) share the Minimum Viable Context
(yes, we call it “MVC”) to help ChatGPT
understand its Role
c) share clearly the task at hand:

It gives me an ok-ish reply, but this is
a very good starting point to:

a | either make your

prompt/question better for
the task at hand,
or
b | add more tasks, under the
same thread/context.

Opportunities.
Workflows & Prompts.
ChatGPT remembers the context of the
previous questions and builds on that
knowledge.
Here is a follow-up question, if we are
proceeding with the screening process:

Risks & Limitations
“Garbage in, garbage out”.
If you feed your newborn baby junk food,
your kid is going to grow obese.

See the misleading prompt...

Risks & Limitations

Source: https://kozyrkov.medium.com/introducing-chatgpt-aa824ad89623

Risks & Limitations

The prompt didn’t ask for
anything more than an
explanation of how ChatGPT
*relates* to GANs.
The right answer about the
relationship is that ChatGPT
is based on a different AI
architecture and is not itself
a GAN. That’s what a human
researcher would say.

Risks & Limitations

Bottom line:
ChatGPT will try to please
you.
This is why we educate you
to use it as an AI-Assistant,
not an Analyst/Associate
or a Manager.
If you feed it with valid
prompts, you will upgrade
yours & your team’s
performance big time.

Risks & Limitations

If you know its risks,
you will outpace the
competition, while you
maintain and further improve
your high-quality standards.

amazing resource on the Risks of using
ChatGPT in HR: https://textio.com/blog/

Risks & Limitations

Limitations
100mentors is the tool that assesses your
skill to “Ask better questions”.

AI is amazing in answering
“Basic information Questions”,
but not as good in answering
the “Wonderment” ones.
Risks & Limitations
In our “Email list
Segmentation” example
(see link in the text),
after 6 prompts that save us
(big) time & money, and give
us high-quality jump-start
material, we get to a very
context-specific
question/prompt:

Risks & Limitations

When the ask is very context-specific, the
value of the AI answer significantly drops,
because it’s very generic.

Risks & Limitations

This is the kind of answer you get in
wonderment/context-specific questions.

You now need a human expert.

Risks & Limitations

4
“Enter Human”.
When and How.
The need is
so Context-specific
that you now need to ask
your “Wonderment” question
to a Human, who is a
subject-expert.
E.g. the project/account manager, who
knows the insights/”actors” of the project.

“Enter Human”.
When & how.
The skill to ask better
questions/prompts is the skill
of the decade, no matter
whether you interact with
the machine (AI)
or
a human expert (HI).

“Enter Human”.
When & how.
