EE Lab Report 01 - Merged

The document describes an electrical engineering lab session where students learned circuit analysis using Tinkercad simulation software. They explored concepts like voltage and current division in series and parallel circuits. Students built simple circuits with batteries, bulbs, switches on a breadboard and simulated them on Tinkercad first before measuring current and voltage using a multimeter.

School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering

Objective:

➢ To understand the fundamental principles of circuit analysis and design using

Tinkercad circuit simulation software.
➢ To investigate the behavior of various electronic components, such as resistors,
capacitors, bulbs, switches, and breadboard, in different circuit configurations.
➢ To learn how to use measuring instruments, such as multimeters for voltage and
current measurements.
➢ To explore the concept of voltage and current division in series and parallel
circuits.

Components Used:
❖ Battery
❖ Bulb
❖ Wires (various lengths and colors)
❖ Slide Switch

Equipment Used:
❖ Breadboard
❖ Multimeter (for voltage and current measurements)

Procedure:
Procedure for Creating a Simple Circuit in Tinkercad:
➢ Log In to Tinkercad by making Personal Account
➢ Once logged in, click on "Create New Circuit."
➢ On the Tinkercad workspace, search for the components and equipment and
drag them onto the workspace, including, a battery of 9V, a bulb, a slideswitch,
and a multimeter.
➢ Use the wire tool to drag wires and connect these components and equipments.
Test Your Circuit:
➢ Now simulate the circuit by clicking the "Start Simulation" button.
➢ Now, convert mutimeter into ammeter (connect in series),voltmeter(parallel
connection) and ohmmeter and note the readings.

Breadboard:
▪ Before final product, first simulation is built by tinkercad(SOFTWARE),then on
breadboard and finally approve them for PCB.
▪ A breadboard is used to connect components, like wires, resistors, capacitors,
and coils, to conduct various process.
Tinkercad Simulation:
Results and Discussion:
Name Results
Javed Ali 182mA Current and 8.73V Pot: Difference
Muhammad Aleem Qureshi 182mA Current
Saqlain Abbas 8.58mA Current
Ahtisham Iftikhar 8.52 mA current and 8.99 V potential
difference with 1k ohm resister

Readings:
Reading 1: In this case, I connected ammeter in series and voltmeter in parallel to
measure both current and voltage and I got the result.

Reading 2: In this scenario, I connected ammeter in series by converting mutlimeter

into ammeter and lights the bulb.

Reading 3: In this case I have measured the current in a circuit consisting of a bulb and
a resister by connecting the ammeter in series .

Reading 4: In this circuit, I measured 8.58mA current by connecting the ammeter in

series and voltage 8.99V by connecting the voltmeter in parallel. I used bulb, slide
switch and resister of 1k ohm across the circuit.
Lesson Learned:

❖ I learn the very basics of electrical engineering like how current remain same in
series and voltage in parallel. connection of voltmeter should be in parallel and
ammeter in series. (Javed Ali)
❖ There is several simulation software, but I study and used tinkercad for
simulation, simulation should be done before breadboard. (Muhammad Aleem
Qureshi)
❖ In this lab I have learned how to use Tinkercad software for simulation and also
the process to make an electrical circuit that first of all we have to create a
simulation and then use breadboard and finally the circuit is made in PCB.
(Saqlain Abbas)
❖ I learnt many things in this Lab that mainly includes basics of Electrical
Engineering. (Ahtisham Iftikhar)
➢ 1. I learnt the work done by charges that causes due to potential
difference.
➢ 2. I learnt how current produces due to potential difference and flow of
charge per unit time.
➢ 3. I learnt that how to build a circuit on breadboard simply, how to connect
voltmeter and ammeter, how to measure current and voltage and how to
switch the bulb on or off.
➢ 4. I learnt basic simulation of circuit on TinkerCad software for basic
electrical Engineering
