Data visualization is the practice of translating data into visual formats like graphs and maps to make the data easier for humans to understand and analyze. Tableau is a popular business intelligence tool that allows users to easily connect to different data sources, select dimensions and measures, and visualize the data using interactive charts and graphs. Key features of Tableau include its drag-and-drop interface, ability to blend diverse datasets, and support for real-time collaboration.

Data Visualization Using

Tableau
Data Visualization

 What is data visualization?

1. Data visualization is the practice of translating information into a visual context,
such as a map or graph, to make data easier for the human brain to understand and
pull insights from.
2. Data visualization is one of the steps of the data science process, which states that
after data has been collected, processed and modeled, it must be visualized for
conclusions to be made.
Why is data visualization important?

 Data visualization provides a quick and effective way to communicate information in a

universal manner using visual information.
• the ability to absorb information quickly, improve insights and make faster decisions.
• an increased understanding of the next steps that must be taken to improve the
organization;
• an improved ability to maintain the audience's interest with information they can
understand
• an easy distribution of information that increases the opportunity to share insights with
everyone involved.
• eliminate the need for data scientists since data is more accessible and
understandable; and
• an increased ability to act on findings quickly and, therefore, achieve success with
greater speed and less mistakes.
Data visualization and big data

 The increased popularity of big data and data analysis projects have made
visualization more important than ever.

Three Steps in Tableau report

• Connect to a data source − It involves locating the data and using an

appropriate type of connection to read the data.
• Choose dimensions and measures − This involves selecting the required
columns from the source data for analysis.
• Apply visualization technique − This involves applying required visualization
methods, such as a specific chart or graph type to the data being
analyzed.
Dimensions & Measures

• Dimensions contain qualitative values (such as names, dates, or

geographical data). You can use dimensions to categorize, segment, and
reveal the details in your data. Dimensions affect the level of detail in the
view.
• Measures contain numeric, quantitative values that you can measure.
Measures can be aggregated. When you drag a measure into the view,
Tableau applies an aggregation to that measure (by default).
