Q 2. Describe how criminals use emails to spread malware. [4]

Some criminals spread malware by attaching a file that contains the malware on an

email that they send to many recipients. The email uses persuasive language that

encourages the recipient to open the attachment. If the recipient does open the

attachment, the malware will infect their computer.

Q 3. Explain how AV software and a firewall work together. [3]

A firewall prevents unauthorized access to a computer, particularly over the

internet. It prevents hacking attacks and blocks download from untrusted sites. AV

software identifies any malware that has slipped through the firewall (for example,

malware that is sent in an email attachment).
