A. MISSISSIPPI RIVERWALK CONNECTION


The Riverwalk project further strengthens these Statewide assets by intentionally engaging the Mississippi River with active and passive
recreation amenities for all. Creation of a unique water’s edge asset within steps of St. Cloud Hospital and downtown St. Cloud will
generate eco-tourism, economic investment, and environmental education and awareness.

B. EAST ST. GERMAIN AND VETERANS BRIDGE WALKABILITY


The east side of downtown is well positioned to flourish due to its framing by the Mississippi River and Future Transit Oriented
Development at the Northstar connection. Creation of a walkable urban environment through streetscape and infrastructure
investments on East St. Germain Street and the Veterans Bridge will result in housing, cultural amenities, and economic opportunity for
all area residents in a unique regional destination.

C. LAKE GEORGE/DOWNTOWN CONNECTIVITY


Division Street, Trunk Highway 23, is one of St. Cloud’s primary east-west roadways and a regional economic engine. Strategic crossing
improvements and beautification enhancements are necessary to safely balance regional traffic volumes with the walkable urban
environment necessary for downtown and the adjacent regional assets to thrive.

D. ST. CLOUD HOSPITAL GATEWAY CORRIDOR CONNECTIVITY


Creation of an identifiable connection between St. Cloud Hospital, Central Minnesota’s largest employer, and Downtown is vital to the
regional economy. Wayfinding, streetscape, and safety amenities can strengthen car and walking connections from CentraCare to
downtown and presence within downtown housing, employment, and services.

E. SCSU GATEWAY CORRIDOR CONNECTIVITY


Enhancing the presence of St. Cloud State University and the pedestrian connection to downtown is essential to capturing the
educational, cultural, and economic returns generated by the campus. Wayfinding and walkability improvements will increase the
presence of the University and foster surrounding developments within downtown and adjacent spaces connecting these regional
assets.

F. RAIL CORRIDOR PEDESTRIAN SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS


Creating a safe, walkable, pedestrian environment is essential to the fostering construction of new urban housing within downtown St.
Cloud. Rail corridor barriers and crossing improvements are necessary to address aesthetics, safety, and train whistles that fosters
1,000 new units of downtown housing.
