How do I configure power management with "IMM2" management module on an IBM System
x3750 M4 server in RHEV 3.1?
Power Management on an IBM System x3750 M4
I have everything working, but i cant seem to figure out power management. The system
reports that it has an "IMM2" management module. Which i've used manually to control the
server. I cant seem to get RHEV to interact with it.

Environment
Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.1
"IMM2" management module
IBM System x3750 M4 server

, Resolution
1. Enable fencing device in the IMM2 web configuration tool.
2. Create a user with admin privilege to connect with ipmilan(IIM2)
3. Permissions for fence user on the imm2 card. Refer below image:

4. Follow the instruction as mentioned in following document for configuring Power Management
Settings and make sure 'ipmilan` agent is selected:

https://access.redhat.com/site/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Virtualization/3.1/html-single/Administration_Guide/index.html#As

Root Cause
Fence user permission was not set properly.

Diagnostic Steps
IPMI connects over 623 port. Check if this port is open in firewall.
Ping test to management server from node.
Test the fence_ipmilan script manually from node:

# fence_ipmilan -a 172.20.64.67 -l fence -p myfencepassword -o status -vvv -P -T 4
