EXT.
HENLEY CAMPUS (DAY)
Starts with shots around the Henley campus showing the old, brick
buildings and the environment around it. Then shows the inside of
a large classroom used for media; MacBook's spread across the
room, posters on walls which help students if they’re struggling.
We can see white pillars throughout the room along with orange
walls/ carpet. A teacher is finishing a lesson which is where the
first bit of dialogue is used.
TEACHER:
“Alright class, we’ve ran out of time today and it’s
the end of your lesson. See you all tomorrow.”
The audience is then introduced to the main character, Jack, and
his friend Theo as they are leaving the classroom after a long
day at college.
JACK:
“Today has felt so long, I can’t wait to get back home
and sleep.”
THEO:
“Yeah same, that lesson was so boring. Are you getting
the bus home?”
JACK:
“Not today, football training is earlier this week so
I've got to walk through the woods and straight there.
Sorry.”
THEO:
“Be careful through them woods man, I've heard bad
things have happened in there.”
JACK:
“Haha do you actually believe that rubbish! Don’t be
silly, I will be fine.”
Music starts playing and it shows the two boys walking through
and then out of the campus. It then dies down as the boys stop
and more speech is said between the two.
JACK:
“I’ve got to turn off here, see you later mate.”
THEO:
“Okay bye.” (As Jack walks away) “STAY SAFE!”
Shows Jack LAUGHING under his breath and then we see him continue
his walk on his own. Music picks up again and everything seems
well as Jack enters the woods.
EXT. THE WOODS (DAY)
Cuts to seeing the tall trees swaying in the wind, towering over
all the creatures below it. There is no sun but instead is filled
with clouds and fog to set a horror like setting. Lots of twigs
and leaves in the woods as autumn is closing in.
As Jack is walking through the woods, his mum calls him so he
takes his phone out of his pocket and answers it. At this point,
the background music completely stops so all you can hear is the
call and the nature behind him.
JACK:
“Hi Mum”
JACKS MUM:
“Hello darling, how was your day?”
JACK:
“Good thanks, just on my way to football training.
Harry’s parents are going to give me a lift back.”
JACKS MUM:
“Okay tell them I said thanks. Remember you have a big
game coming up, you don’t want to injure yourself.
JACK:
“Yes I know. You’ve only told me 20 times already!”
JACKS MUM:
“Just making sure! Right, I better get back to work.
I'll see you later.”
JACK:
“Okay, bye.”
JACKS MUM:
“Bye!”
We can see Jack hang up the phone but as he’s putting it back in
his pocket he hears a rustle from the bushes behind him. He looks
scared and turns around, yet nothing is there. We then see him
shrug his shoulders and continue walking seeing as he thinks it
was just a squirrel or something.
A loud, sharp eerie sound is heard as the camera shows a close-up
of a hooded figure with a scary mask on. They are dressed in
black joggers paired with a black hoodie as well as black gloves
and a sharp axe in its hand. The next shot of him is from far
away and is just his back before he turns around and tilts his
head for dramatic effect just as the eerie music playing in the
background suddenly drops again.
There’s more RUSTLING along with birds flying away and this time
Jack is more scared, especially after remembering what Theo had
told him. The figure appears out from behind a tree and stands
still in the pathway ahead of Jack. When Jack turns back around
after checking out the noise, the figure is standing in the
distance ahead of him and does the same head tilt as before. It
slowly starts walking towards Jack, so we then see him turn
around and try to sprint away.
Whilst he is sprinting, he looks behind him to see how far away
he’s got but to his surprise there is nothing there. When he
looks back at the way he is facing there is a jump scare as the
figure is standing still on the path right in front of him
causing Jack to fall.
We then see Jack trying to escape but it is no use as he is
helpless on the floor.
JACK:
“WHAT DO YOU WANT! I’LL DO ANYTHING PLEASE LET ME GO!”
The hooded figure doesn’t reply and puts a bag over Jack’s head
as well as tying up his hands which shuts him up. You then see
the figure dragging him through the growth of the woods, staying
clear of the path.
He takes him to a small, abandoned shed far away from any
civilization. The glass on the windows has been smashed and it’s
all over the floor along with thick, long green weeds growing up
the sides of the walls. The brown paint has worn away and is
peeling off due to the lack of care. On the inside, loose nails
and planks of wood everywhere as well as the bodies of a couple
dead mice, giving off a putrid smell. The only other thing in the
shed: a small, singular rusty metal chair. However, despite all
this, it’s the perfect place for the masked man to hide his
victim.
INT. ABANDONED SHED (DAY)
The man takes the bag off Jacks head and re-ties his hands to the
cold, metal chair. He is now crying and starts shouting again.
JACK:
“I don’t deserve this! I'm too young to die!”
The last thing we see is the mysterious character put its finger
to its mouth in a shushing motion, before the camera pans away to
the sound of SCREAMS which gradually fade away.
It is left a mystery as to what happened to Jack, but also who
the creepy man was. This leaves the audience engaged and on edge
making them want to find out the truth. Was it someone looking
for revenge on Jack? Or is there a serial killer out on the
loose? Either way, Theo was right all along.
