Under steady state operating conditions, the measurement reveals an outer surface
temperature of material C is 20 oC and inner surface of A is 600 oC and oven air
temperature is 800 oC. The inside convective coefficient is 25 w/m2k. What is value
of KB ?

temperature is 30 oC and convective heat transfer coefficient is 15 W/m2K. Determine heat
transfer rate per unit length of pipe. Neglect convective heat transfer on steam side.

interior surface of the oven is maintained at a temperature of 800 oC and the outside wall
temperature is 200 oC. The total surface area of wall of the oven is 2 m2. Find the thermal
resistance, heat flow rate and the heat flux.

10 cm and outer diameter l2 cm. The pipe is located in a room where the ambient
temperature is 30 oC and convective heat transfer coefficient 15 W/m2K. Determine heat
transfer rate per unit length of pipe. To reduce loss from pipe, it is covered with 5 cm thick
layer of insulation (K: 0.2 W/mk). Determine rate of heat loss per meter length and
percentage reduction in heat loss by the insulation. Neglect convective resistance of steam.

insulated. Take K for aluminum = 200 W/mk. Also find the fin efficiency and temperature
at the end of fin.

the outside air. Once the steady state is reached, the temperature of rod is measured at two
points 15 cm apart and found to be 140oC and 100oC, when the atmospheric air is at 30 oC
