This document was originally released between 1994 and 2001. It has been added to QSOL for informational purposes
This document announces the release of an improved C8.3 cylinder head for production and service.
The improvement made to the cylinder head was designed to help reduce cosmetic cracks at the capscrew mounting bosses on the cylinder
head (exhaust side of the engine). The capscrew boss on the updated cylinder head, Part No. 3931925, has been filled for a more robust
product. The old cylinder head, Part No. 3802631, has been obsoleted and superseded by Part No. 3931925. Reference the Option Matrix on
page 2 for the correct part number.
The new design for the C Series valve stem seals will be used for both intake and exhaust on all except naturally aspirated C Series engines.
This seal can be identified by green paint at the top of the seal. This update will create duplicate options that need to be obsoleted. Following
is a chart indicating the options that are being obsoleted and the corresponding new option numbers that need to be ordered. The valve stem
seals, Part No. 3913038 and Part No. 3915707, have been obsoleted and superseded by a new valve stem seal, Part No. 3927642.
The engine serial number (ESN) first for the new options began in production with number 45912386.
