APPROVAL: The technical content of this Service Letter has been shown to comply with the
applicable Federal Aviation Regulations and is FAA approved.
PURPOSE: This Service Letter provides instructions to enable the split communications
feature of the Garmin G1000 system, which will allow the pilot and co-pilot to
transmit/receive on Comms 1 and 2 simultaneously.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Apply power to aircraft and all avionics.
2. Pull MFD and both PFD circuit breakers.
3. While holding the far right softkey on the MFD, restore power to the MFD.
4. When the words “INITIALIZING SYSTEM” appear in the upper left corner of the MFD, release the softkey.
5. While holding the far right softkey on the PFD 2, restore power to the PFD 2.
6. When the words “INITIALIZING SYSTEM” appear in the upper left corner of the PFD 2, release the softkey.
7. While holding the far right softkey on the PFD 1, restore power to the PFD 1.

8. When the words “INITIALIZING SYSTEM” appear in the upper left corner of the PFD 1, release the softkey.
9. The SYSTEM STATUS page should appear as shown below:
10. By rotating the large FMS knob, go to the GMA Configuration page in the GMA group as shown below:
