𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: In times of crises, what do human beings long for more than anything else? When
disaster strikes, what do we all seek? The one thing human beings desire more than anything else in
times of uncertainty is safety. In a chaotic, uncertain world, 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑆𝑎𝑏𝑏𝑎𝑡ℎ 𝑖𝑠 𝑎𝑛 𝑜𝑎𝑠𝑖𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝑝𝑒𝑎𝑐𝑒. It

week’s lesson, we will probe more deeply the meaning of the Sabbath in our personal lives and
discover how a proper understanding of the Sabbath influences our attitudes, our choices, and our
actions.

•God made us. We must answer to Him for our behavior. The One who made us makes us responsible
for all that we say and do.
•Why does God have the right to hold us accountable for how we use our moral freedom? God is our
Creator, and 𝐻𝑒 𝑚𝑎𝑑𝑒 𝑎 𝑚𝑜𝑟𝑎𝑙 𝐿𝑎𝑤 (the 10 Commandments) 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑑𝑒𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑚𝑖𝑛𝑒𝑠 𝑤ℎ𝑖𝑐ℎ 𝑚𝑜𝑟𝑎𝑙

•God’s law shows us how to live in the best way possible. God’s law is part of His government. The
law shows us God’s love, too. That’s why God uses the law to judge us.
•When we keep the Sabbath holy, we show God that we want to be obedient to His whole law.

•Satan hates Jesus. So, he tries hard to make people misunderstand the idea of creation, and he doesn’t
want us to worship Jesus as the One who made us and saves us.
•It is because our world so desperately needs the reassuring message of Creation that God gave us the
Sabbath.
•Sabbath was created for a sinless world. It was a moment of special relationship with God.

(b.) It reminds us that we’re children of God.
(c.) It encourages us to rest in God and rejoice in Him.
(d.) It’s a reminder of our redemption.
(e.) It allows us to rejoice in God’s kindness.
(f.) It’s a special moment to worship our Creator and Redeemer.
(g.) it’s the link between Eden and the New Earth.

•Satan’s lie says that God took a long time to make life on earth. The lie also says God didn’t make the
earth in six days. He used evolution.
•Satan mixes the teaching of evolution with Bible truth. This false teaching says that the days in
Genesis 1 are not real days but millions of years. So, this lie teaches that life on earth is billions of
years old.
•Genesis 1 shows us that God made the earth in six real days that were each 24 hours long. Then God
rested on the 7th day.
•The Hebrew word for “day” in Genesis 1 is “yom.” In the Bible a number is often written before the
word “𝑦𝑜𝑚” or day. Some examples are third day, first day, and so on. So, the word “𝑦𝑜𝑚” with a
number written in front of it always means 24 hours.
•Also, if God didn’t make the skies and earth in six days, how can we keep the seventh-day Sabbath?
Why would God command us to keep it?

- Revelation 14:7 is a call to 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑠ℎ𝑖𝑝 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝐶𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑡𝑜𝑟.
- Revelation 14:9 is a solemn appeal 𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑡𝑜 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑠ℎ𝑖𝑝 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑏𝑒𝑎𝑠𝑡.
- Revelation 14:12 describes a people 𝑤ℎ𝑜 𝑘𝑒𝑒𝑝 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝐶𝑜𝑚𝑚𝑎𝑛𝑑𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝐺𝑜𝑑.
•These passages make it clear that the central issue in the conflict in the last days between good and
evil, Christ and Satan, is worship. Do we worship the Creator or the beast?
•All our Bible teachings come from our belief that God made the earth and everything in it. Without
that belief, nothing else we believe matters.
•Creation teaches us about the seventh-day Sabbath (Genesis 2:1–3). So, the Sabbath is a sign that God
made the earth in six days and rested on the seventh day. The Sabbath is proof that God made us.
•The Sabbath is the only commandment that shows us God as the One who made us (Exodus 20:8–11).
•So, anyone who teaches that the Sabbath isn’t important is trying to remove God from His throne and
replace Him (2 Thessalonians 2:4). An attack on the Sabbath is an attack on God.

•Each seventh day, God’s heavenly palace descends from heaven to earth, and the Lord invites us into
the glory of His presence for this 24-hour period to spend a time of intimate fellowship with Him. We
set our worldly worries aside and enter God’s rest: the Sabbath.
•Why will Sabbath still exist in the New Earth if there will be no more worries and we’ll be living close
to God’s throne (Revelation 22:3)?
•Remember that Sabbath as the day of rest and communion with God was introduced in a sinless world
(Genesis 2:1-3).
•Once the Earth is recreated, Sabbath will still be a day of rest and communion with God (Isaiah
66:23).
•The Jews had seen the Sabbath as a symbol, a foretaste of what was called in Hebrew the 𝑜𝑙𝑎𝑚 ℎ𝑎𝑏𝑎,
the world to come.

There was a man named John Oxenham, he was an English poet and hymn writer. He wrote a poem
entitled “The Ways,” which summarizes this week’s lesson well:
“To every man there openeth a Way, and Ways, and a Way. And the High Soul climbs the High way,
and the Low Soul gropes the low,
And in between, on the misty flats, the rest drift to and fro. But to every man there openeth a High
Way, and a Low.
And every man decideth the Way his soul shall go.”
The book of Revelation appeals to us to make eternal choices. There can be no neutrality in the earth’s
last war.
