Electonic LAB 5 R

This lab report summarizes an experiment on studying the characteristics of a transistor. The objective was to understand the relationship between the input voltage and current of a transistor. The experiment involved assembling a circuit with a transistor, voltage source, resistor and potentiometer. Measurements were taken of the base-emitter voltage (VBE) and base current (IB) by varying the potentiometer and recording the results. The results showed the base current remained zero until the VBE approached 0.7 volts, at which point the current increased, demonstrating the transistor's forward bias characteristics.

Lab4: Characteristics of the Transistor
Objective :

The main objective of this lab is understanding the characteristics of the transistor and
studding the relation between the input voltage and current.

INSTRUMENTS and Equipment :

1. Voltage source (power supply = 5 v)

2. Electronic board.
3. Links for connecting.
4. Resistor =1kΩ.
5. Multimeter .
6. Potentiometer = 220Ω.

PROCEDURE OF the EXPERIMENT :

1. We assembled the circuit as shown in fig.1.

2. We checked that the polarity of the voltage source is correct.
3. We connected a lead between the emitter and the base of the transistor and it’s
connected with the multimeter.
4. We also connected a lead between the base and the Potentiometer and it’s connected
with the current of the multimeter.
5. After that we switched the power supply and stated to read the values that appeared at
the multimeter.
6. Then we started to change the potentiometer and measure VBE and IB
7. Finally, we recorded the results in the table below.

DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION :

In this experiment we used a common emitter transistor of NPN type and The
base current is considered as the control current of the transistor.

We noticed the change in the input current with the variation in the values of
base voltage keeping the output voltage of the collector constant.

As we noticed, In the forward biasing, the current still zero until it reached or
get close to the voltage of the emitter which is 0.7 .
