Lesson 3
Lesson 3
3 A SIMPLE PLAN
TOPICS
LEARNING OUTCOMES
At the end of the lesson, you should be able to:
1. differentiate Offset, Fillet and Trim and their uses;
2. familiarize with the different method of labelling using Text; and
3. create Table and Field.
3.1
Command: FILLET or F ┘
Current settings: Mode=TRIM, Radius = 0.0000
Select first object: pick object A
Select second object: pick object B
Command: TRIM or TR ┘
Select objects or <select all>:
(pick the objects as cutting edge)
Select objects: ┘
EXTrim
Trims all objects at the cutting edge specified by a selected polyline, line, circle,
arc, ellipse, text, mtext, or attribute definition.
3.2
TEXT/DTEXT/MTEXT
A.
JUSTIFICATION OF TEXT
As you create text, you can align it horizontally. That is, you can justify it using
one of the alignment options shown in the following illustration. Left alignment
is the default. To left-align text, do not enter an option at justify prompt.
WHERE:
1 = Left/Start2 = Right
3 = Center
4 = Middle
5&6= Fit (ORTHO/F8 on)
7 = Top Center
8 = Top Left
9 = Top Right
10 = Middle
B. SINGLE LINE TEXT/ DTEXT
Using TEXT or DTEXT you can create one or more lines of text and end each line when
you press ENTER. Each text line is a separate object that you can relocate, reformat, or
otherwise modify, and you can set your TEXT or DTEXT into an annotative object.
Command: DTEXT or DT ┘
Specify start point of text [Justify Style]: J ┘
Enter an option: L ┘
Specify start point of text: pick any point
Specify height: 200 ┘
Specify rotation angle of text <0>: ┘
(Type the text)
D. MULTILINE TEXT/MTEXT
Creates texts in paragraph form that fits within a nonprinting text boundary. You create
the text boundary to define the width of the paragraph. You can also specify the
justification, style, height, rotation, width, color, spacing, annotative and other text
attributes using MTEXT. For long and labels with internal formatting, use multiline text.
Command: MT ┘
Specify first corner: pick any point
Specify opposite corner: pick any point
Shortcut menu: Select the line text object to edit, right-click in the drawing
area, and choose Edit or click twice the line text.
Properties window is the main method use to modify the complete set of
object-specific properties, including properties that you have defined.
Command: MO or PR ┘
• Pick STUDIO
Change the property value in a dialog box
Use the pick point button to change the Obliquing
angle
Press esc (once)
QUICK SELECT
Creates a selection set based on filtering criteria.
✓ FIND: command to find and replace text. FIND command searches for
specified text and replace it with alternative text.
To find text:
1. In Find what, enter the text you want to find.
2. In Find where, choose Entire Drawing to define the scope of your
search.
3. Type FLOOR under Replace width
4. Choose Find
5. To zoom the found text in the drawing, choose Zoom to Highlighted
Result.
F. TEXT STYLE AND FONT FILE
All text in an AutoCAD drawing has a text style associated with it. When you enter text,
AutoCAD uses the current text style STANDARD, which sets the font, size, angle,
orientation, annotative and other text characteristics. You can create many text styles
for use in your drawings. You can reuse the text styles you create by copying the text
styles into other drawing using the AutoCAD Design Center.
3.3
TABLE (TB)
A table is an object that contains data in rows and columns. When you create a
table object, you first create an empty table, and then you add content to the cells in
the table.
Command: TB ┘
3.4
FIELD
- A field is updatable text that is set up to display data that may change
during the life cycle of the drawing. When the field is updated, the latest value of the
field is displayed.
Using field to change the author name using drawing properties
Command: FIELD ┘
1. In the Field Category, Select ALL
2. In the Field Names, Select AUTHOR
3. Click OK
4. Specify start point or [Height/JUSTIFY]: pick
any point
5. From the Application menu >> Drawing Utilities >> Select DRAWING PROPERTIES
6. In the Drawing Properties Dialog Box, Select SUMMARY tab
7. In the Author, Type your name
8. Click OK
9. Then Regenerate the drawing
Using field to add information
Command: FIELD ┘
Command: UPDATEFIELD ┘
Select Objects: pick the field
Select Objects: press enter
