Title
To draw model objects using Loft command.

Objective
After performing this lab session students will be able to build geometric models using loft
feature and pattern feature in SolidWorks 2015.

Models to be generated
A propeller is a type of fan that transmits power by converting rotational motion into thrust.
Students will draw propeller using SolidWorks 2015. The Model is shown in figure:

Description of Procedure
1. Hub (Revolve Command)
a. Draw the following Sketch on the right plan:

b. Draw a spline joining the open end of the Figure 3 as shown.

c. Select the spline and the 200 mm long line and add a relationship of tangent.

d. Exit the sketch mode and revolve the object.

2. Blade (Loft and Fillet Commands)


a. Draw the following sketch on the top plane:

b. Take a reference plane 360 mm above the top plane.


c. Draw the following sketch on the Reference plane taken in previous step:

d. Loft the both sketches (Rectangles).

e. Fillet the corners of the blade (R= 135)

f. Fillet the front edge of the blade (R= 30 mm)

h. Use Circular Pattern to complete the required number of blades as shown (Tip:
Select the rear circular end of the hub as pattern Axis):

3. Hole in the Hub (Extruded Cut)


a. Draw a circle of diameter 114 mm on the rear of the model as shown.

b. Extrude cut the sketch to the depth of 210 mm.


4. Change the Appearance of the Model
a. Click on the appearance button:
