Id Flo

ID-FLO is a high quality starch powder used to provide filtration control and rheology stability in water-based drilling fluids. It is effective across a wide range of makeup waters, including high-salinity brines, and works to reduce fluid loss and increase viscosity. ID-FLO encapsulates particles to function as a protective colloid and is typically applied at 2 to 6 lb/bbl, with higher dosages needed for brine systems. It provides advantages such as economical filtration control and viscosity, effectiveness in various brines, and minimization of filtration damage to production zones.

PRODUCT BULLETIN

ID-FLO
ID-FLO is a high quality starch used to provide filtration control and rheology stability in all types of water base
drilling fluids. This non-ionic, natural, polymer is effective in all make-up waters, including high salinity and
high hardness brines such as NaCl, KCl, MgCl2, CaCl2 and complex brines.

Typical Physical Properties

Physical appearance Off-white powder

Specific gravity 1.8
pH 6-8
Bulk density 30 lb/ft3

Application

ID-FLO is designed to reduce fluid loss and increase viscosity in all water -base muds. It is especially applicable
and economical in saturated salt and brine systems where other products are not effective. This includes clear
brines used during work over and completion operations.
ID-FLO encapsulates particles with a productive polymers coating to function as a protective colloid. It is
effective as a drilling fluids stabilizer, as well as a fluid-loss reducer, when evaporite formations such as
anhydrite or salt must be drilled and when drilling hydratable shales.
Normal treatment range from 2 to 6 lb/bbl (5.7 to 17.1 kg / m3). It also depends on the makeup-water
chemistry and desired fluid loss. Higher concentrations are required for comparable results in brine systems. A
minimum concentration of ID-FLO necessary before a signification reduction in fluid loss will be observed.

Advantages

• An economical, preserved product for filtration control and viscosity.

• Effective in a wide range of makeup waters, including high-salinity, high hardness brines.
• Functions in NaCl, KCl, MgCl2, CaCl2 and complex brines.
• Performs satisfactorily over a wide pH range.
• Minimizes filtration damage to production zones.
• Pregelatinized for maximum effectiveness.
• Provides well bore stability through filtration control and encapsulation

Toxicity and Handling

ID-FLO is a non-hazardous material and can safely be used in environmentally sensitive areas and to be
handled as an industrial chemical.

Packing
ID-FLO is packaged in a 25 kg multi wall paper bag with PE liner palletized wrapped & strapped.
