Let’s Study and Analyze

Traffic signs are essential parts of the road. They control and regulate
traffic and create a safe environment for road users. These signs are of great
help in reducing the rate of car accidents and ensuring the safety of
pedestrians.
There are categories of road traffic signs namely Regulatory Signs
and Warning Signs. Regulatory sign ranges from various signages which are
used to indicate or reinforce traffic laws, regulations, or reinforcements.
These can be applied either at all times or at a specified time or place upon a
road or highway. Disregarding of these regulatory signs may constitute a
violation. It is also a sign that gives notice to road users of traffic laws or
regulations. Warning signs differ from regulatory signs in the sense that they
inform rather than instruct. They are used to warn motorists and
pedestrians.

Wigan is one of the most trusted BBC delivery boys in Ifugao. One
rainy afternoon, he is about to deliver a parcel being ordered by a lady from
Barangay Payawan. On his way to Payawan, he saw a signage telling that
the road is slippery when wet, but he ignored such signage. Instead, he sped
up because he was thinking that if he could deliver the parcel ahead of time
he would be rewarded by the receiver. But because he drove too fast, he lost
his balance on the motorcycle and fell on the road.

Let’s Remember and Review

Traffic signs are parts of the road that control and regulate traffic.
These are categorized into Regulatory and Warning Signs.

Regulatory signs are used to indicate or reinforce traffic laws,

regulations, or reinforcements.

Warning signs inform rather than instruct. They are used to warn
motorists and pedestrians.

Prohibited Signs are signs used to prevent activities that are not
allowed because they do not conform to the rules and regulations.
