LINGUISTICS IN EDUCATION/EDUCATIONAL LINGUISTICS

(Basic Course Outline)


S3 2019/Thursday/CPD

Course Description:
This course aims to provide students with the knowledge of linguistics. The linguistics
studied here related to education area, especially, English education. The subject
discussed in classroom activities concerned with how language is used as a means of
communication, teaching-learning materials, and the products produced both by the
lecturer and the student(s). In addition, this course also discuss how language is used as
an instrument for assessment. This course also offers the uses of language (English)
based on many perspectives, such as gender, culture, and social phenomena.

Course Learning Outcomes:


By finishing this course, the students will be able to:
- comprehend the application of linguistic concepts in education
- apply the linguistic component in developing teaching learning materials
- analyze the teaching learning materials based on the linguistic concepts
- produce text related to teaching learning English
