Introductory Let the pupils do the word search.
Activity Read the following words from the story and instruct them to encircle the following words
from their copy of the story, The Ant and the Grasshopper. (Refer the pupils to the copy of
the story in their LM.

Say: I will read some words from our story.


Listen carefully and encircle the words you will hear.
Then ask the pupils to read the words together.
Write the words on the board.

Activity
Note: To improve the listening and speaking skills of the pupils, employ the" Teach-Ok"
Technique from Whole Brain Teaching. This technique is a variation of Direct Instruction.
(Refer to TG page 61-62 for the process.)

Analysis Ask the pupils: What are nouns? (Nouns are names of persons, animals, places and things)
Say: Give more examples of animals to your seatmate.
Give more examples of places to your seatmate.
Give more examples of things to your seatmate.
Give examples of names of persons-boys, girls, teachers- to your seatmate.

Abstraction What is a noun?


Nouns are names of persons, things, animals, places and events.
Application .A. Let the pupils complete the web with examples of the kinds of nouns mentioned around
the keyword NOUN. ( Refer the pupils to LM- Activity 51 page 64.)

B. Encircle the nouns found in the sentences below.
