With your pug, race around the park collecting bones and tasty bacon before the timer runs out
and walkies are over. You can visit 3 different parks with different obstacles to avoid and test
your platforming abilities.
Level Objectives
Main Objectives
Objective: Avoid rocks and get the highest possible score before the time runs out
End state: Score (at least more than 1), Timer 0 seconds and Lead health 3/3
Secondary Objectives
Environment
First two levels are set in a small park with various small hills and during the day with a clear
blue sky and an overhead sun for lighting. The last level is set in a large park with fewer hills
and later in the day with a darker sky but still overhead lighting.
Level Gameplay
Player starts towards the middle and bottom of the screen (see yellow outlined square).
Draft level
Block out
The above level uses the below shapes that represent different in game objects, these are as
below.
● Black rectangle - Start/Entrance
● Blue sphere - Repair the lead
● White sphere - Bone (+1 point)
● Pink sphere - Bacon (+5 points)
● Grey cube - Rock (Damage lead)
● Brown cube - Poop (-1 point)
● Red cube - Breakable Crate
● Yellow capsule - NPC (Reduce turn speed)
● Orange plane - Mud (Reduce player speed)
● Black cylinder - Coffee (boost speed for 60 seconds)
● Grey cylinder - Squirrel (boost speed for 120 seconds)
● White cylinder - Switch (make ramps and bacon appear)
● Yellow plane - Ramp (launch into the air)
Puzzles/Obstacles
Switches that make bacon appear with either the switch or the bacon surrounded by obstacles.
Bacons in crates that need to be smashed through, but to do this, obstacles are in the way such
as empty crates or mud that first need to be overcome.
Ramps and other platforming challenges that need to be used to get to out of reach bacon.
Groups of bones surrounded by obstacles that can be collected either at the expense of the
player's speed or if the player is skilled enough, then they can collect the bones while avoiding
the obstacles that would slow the player down.
Lead repair items hidden in crates that are near other similar but empty crates or speed boosts.
The player can choose to use speed boosts on crates to see if there is anything useful in them
such as lead repair items or for overcoming nearby obstacles.
Level 1
Puzzles/Obstacles
Out of reach bacon that requires the player to jump and use coffee boosts to reach them.
Bacon's hidden in crates that need a coffee boost to break. The trees in the environment as well
as hilly landscape and bone pickups help guide the player from the coffee pick up to the crates
that need to be smashed.
Obstacles that slow the player down but have collectibles (bacon and bones) which are
attractive to players. These are near coffee boosts or easy to avoid to not pose too big a
challenge to the player in this initial level.
Concepts used from draft level
● Platforming challenges
● Breaking crates to find hidden collectibles
● Obstacles that slow the player down but entice the player with collectibles
Level 2
Flow
As with the first level the player is encouraged to follow the path initially as it stands out in the
level and has shiny bone pickups along the path. This is however discouraged with obstacles
blocking the path encouraging the player to explore the rest of the level away from the path to
find hidden bacons and extra bones. Near the player are a couple of ramps that pose little threat
but a bacon at the end, just after this are more ramps that increase the initial challenge.
Puzzles/Obstacles
Collectibles that require platforming skills (launching off ramps) with either a low risk challenge
(NPC’s or Poop below that slow the player down) or a higher risk challenge (rocks below that
reduce the player's lead health if collided with).
Bacons surrounded by dangerous obstacles starting with a few rocks near the player with a
slightly trickier setup with mud to slow the player down further into the level).
Switches that make bacon appear once they have been activated. Switches are either out in the
open or hidden under crates that require breaking to reveal the switch (and activate the switch
as a result). In each case, the switches encourage the player to face the direction where the
bacon will appear with obstacles and coffee.
Low danger obstacles (this time NPCs) that slow the player down, but contain collectibles that
the player might be tempted to collect.
Concepts used from draft level
● Platforming challenges (increased challenges with more ramps and obstacles in the
way)
● Switches that make collectibles appear)
● Obstacles that slow the player down but entice the player with collectibles
● Dangerous obstacles (rocks) that introduce the fail state
Level 3
Flow
This level is much larger than the previous levels and encourages the player to explore more
therefore it has no path but several landmarks that should draw the player towards them such
as a rock and tree path, tall hills with ramps, a large collection of mud splats and rock
collections. This along with various coffee boosters,to help the player get around faster and
explore more in the given time.
Puzzles/Obstacles
Platform challenges that require attention than in previous levels as the stakes are higher (either
from various rocks that can be collided with and losing lead health or jumps that need to be
made first time with a coffee boost).
A bacon surrounded by obstacles that slow the player down but this time with more obstacles to
avoid compared to the previous levels to increase the challenge.
Switches hidden under boxes that once pressed, make more switches appear around the level.
Plenty of coffee boosters and crates with distinctive shapes that draw the player to them. Once
all of these switches are pressed, a bacon appears in an area that draws the player towards it
(with raised terrain, plenty of bones and crates that form an arrow pointing to the area).
A hidden bacon that requires a puzzle to be solved by pressing the right switches while avoiding
the wrong switches which reset the puzzle.
