Entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurship is the practice of embarking on a
new business or reviving an existing business by
pooling together a bunch of resources in order to
exploit new found opportunities
Technopreneur - is the person who destroys the existing economic order by introducing,
new products and services, by creating new forms of organizations and by exploiting new
raw
materials. - It is someone who perceives an opportunity and creates an
organization to pursue it. A person who undertakes risks that has the chance of profit.
- Technopreneurs distinguishes themselves through their ability to
accumulate and manage knowledge, as well as their ability to mobilized resources to
achieve a
specified business or social goal.
So what is technology?
What is common among all of these? They create products out of intellectual property. IP
means something that comes from your mind, not necessarily a patent, but something
creative from your mind.
A technopreneur has an idea and sets up a business around that idea. The business and
the idea are both grounded in a particular technology.

It’s will not just help you but also help the country. It’s very important for us realize
that technology entrepreneurship is very important for everybody.
Look at the chart below. It stacks up all the different revenues of the companies
mentioned previously. Apple, HP, Intel, Cisco, Google and Oracle. And as you can see that
if we stack up all the revenue it’s bigger than the GDP of the Philippines or the output of
the an emerging market like our country. So what I challenge every student of this course
is to dream big. Figure out if your idea can actually become perhaps the next Cisco or the
next Google. It’s will not just help you but also help the country. It’s very important for us
realize that technology entrepreneurship is very important for everybody.
