Answer:
(i) These drinks are often a substitute for a glass of milk which leads to osteoporosis.
(ii) Insufficient intake of milk leads to calcium and vitamin D deficiency. Lack of exercise and
sedentary life style also contribute and make our bones weak.
(iii) It becomes apparent in old age. It is called fatal because up to 25% of older people who
suffer a broken hip die within a year.
(iv) It causes loss of height, pain in joints and back, fractures and fear of fractures, and can be
very depressing.
(V) The Indian society for Bone and Mineral Research is spreading awareness about this bone
crippling disease.
(vi) Bone friendly habits are-exercise, get enough sunlight and have adequate calcium. (vii)
Fatal-means ‘deadly’.
(viii) Chronic.

Ans1.)When The letter did not reach God. The postmaster who was a kind,
generous, helpful, and God-fearing man,decided not to shake Lencho's
faith in God, and thus, replied to Lencho's letter by sending him money
under the name of God.

2. What does ‘ice’ stand for? How is it sufficient to bring destruction?


Ans2.)Here ice stands for hate. Poet says that ice is also sufficient for
destruction as if people will hate everyone around them. There will be no
love, brotherhood and it will bring the world in danger and will destroy it.

3. What did Nelson Mandela pledge when he was sworn in as President?

Ans3.)When Nelson Mandela was sworn in as President of South Africa on May

Ans5.)Anne Frank tells that she has very lovely and caring family. Her parents and her
elder sister love her a lot. There are about thirty people near by her whom she can call
friends. She has loving aunts and a good home but she wants to have a true friend with
whom she can share her feelings and thoughts.

1.Was Hari Singh successful in robbing Anil? Was Anil the only one who was robbed or did
Hari also rob himself of something?
Ans1.) Yes, Hari Singh was successful in robbing Anil. But Anil was not the
only one who was robbed at that time. Hari had robbed himself as well.

2. How did Ausable kill Max without using a weapon?


Ans2.)Ausable was an intelligent spy. When he found Max waiting for him in
his room, he made a story of a balcony under his window. He convinced Max
about the balcony. And thus, when someone knocked at the door, Max fearing
it to be the police, jumped out of the window and died.

3. How does Dr Herriot treat Tricky?


Ans3.)James Herriot treats Tricki just like he would treat an overweight and
lazy dog, which Tricki is. He cuts down his food intake and keeps him under
strict observation for the initial days at hospital. He gradually increases
Tricki's food and sets him free for physical activities to improve his health.

Ans1.)The speaker suddenly feels uplifted and inspired by this small incident.
He realizes that even the smallest things in life can bring joy and happiness.
The poem "Dust of Snow" teaches us that our attitude towards a situation can
evoke both negative and positive responses.

2.)What were Nelson Mandela‘s views on the policy of Apartheid?
Ans2.)Nelson Mandela said that the policy of apartheid created a deep and
lasting wound in the people of his country. ... Mandela says that his country is
rich in the minerals and gems that lie beneath its soil , but its greatest wealth is
its people who are finer and truer than the purest diamonds.
